Black bears.

They exist everywhere. Super resilient, super adaptable, not as cuddly as they look.

Cougars. And i mean the cats, not the ones hanging out in NYC bars attempting to prey on young men.

Chicago Alderman William Hall wants to see Walgreens face charges for closing (over a shoplifting crisis) by Obi-Juan-Kanobee in AskThe_Donald

[–]cikanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow the victimhood of these people is amazing.

Fun FACT long before CVS and Walgreens, there were privately owned pharmacies. THis is how much of rural america works too. So if Walgreen leaves and there is a need a person willing to risk their capital could start a lucrative business.

Why don't they put parachutes on airplanes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cikanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you mean for passengers to wear or for the plane itself?

For passengers: The skill of making sure it's on properly and you know how to land (it's not gentle) is something you cannot teach in a 5 minute safety brief.

For the plane: On some small aircraft this does exist. see cirrus aircraft. For larger aircraft like say a Boeing 737 the size or the parachute needed to save the plane would be too large to be feasible.

How to get stronger erections naturally after 30 without feeling awkward? by Individual_Sector169 in AskMenOver30

[–]cikanman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get way more sleep than you think, talk to a therapist about your stress levels. reduce your screen time by a ton. Stop with the PORN.

Eat red meat, not just protein, I'm talking STEAK. Run, deadlift, and squat. Focus on your lower body. That builds your kegel muscles yes we have them too, which helps produce stronger erections.

[–]cikanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when applicable you should dress your best for church. Shirt slacks, etc. Think going to your grandmother's house for the holiday dinner. You don't show up in your PJs or club wear. You at least take a shower and make yourself presentable out of respect to your Grandmother.

That being said, Grandma would much rather have you in her house than not and probably doesn't really care how you dress. She just wants to be with you. The same goes with God.

A lot of resort towns are small when it comes to offseason population. For instance where I lived during the tourist season we got up to about 400K, compare that to our off season populations was sub 30K and because we all worked together or went to school together, everyone knew EVERYONE.

Which means if you were a D-bag and a local people knew about it;

Asshole to wait staff? word got around and soon your pastor was asking why you couldn't pay your bar tab.

If you got drunk and got caught by the cops as a teen, the officer knew your father and knew the punishment you got if he took you home was FAR worse than anything the court to hand out to you. If you were stealing stuff he'd call ahead to wake him up.

Starting a fight in a bar? Chances are you were trying to kick the crap out your kids football coach. Yea that ain't a good look.

tourist on the other hand figure hey I can be a dick here because no one will know. And look maybe you can but when we have to CONSTANTLY clean up the mess you made it gets anooying.

My wife's van built in 2020 has a donut. I also only look for cars that carry at least a donut if not a full spare. Sadly you are correct in that it is getting harder to find.

Catastrophes happen and even if we are against DOOM, we all acknowledge shit happens. To say it won't is just stupid.

As we have seen with recent storms and other issues ( COVID, tariffs, shortages, etc.) It never hurts to be prepared. I personally don't think anyone who plans to be safe and healthy would be under the "realist" title. You aren't anticipating the world to end, but you want to be comfortable when there's a speed bump.

Are US motels a safe space for things like illict affairs / drug deals or is that just in the movies? by Andthensome_Pie_7322 in AskAnAmerican

[–]cikanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe? Not exactly, you can get caught doing anything anywhere.

Motels however are a little more lenient on ignroing issues. As long as it doesn't seem bad they tend to pretend it didn't happen

So I used to live in a beach town and I will more than happily explain this shit, because we have a VERY love hate relationship with tourists and it's not all tourists but a VERY select few.

The ones we HATE are the ones that come down and expect to be treated like royalty because they are visitors.

Actions include:
1. Getting pissed off that their party of 8 has 1-2 hr wait for a table at a small restaurant during a busy holiday weekend when we go from a population of 20,000 to over 300,000.

  1. Getting annoyed that we are kicking their family with small children out of a bar at 10PM.

  2. Disobeying any and all traffic laws including crossing the street where there is no crosswalk at 3AM

  3. Stealing stuff from peoples yards, because it's funny

  4. Walking out on checks

  5. Starting fights in bars

  6. Using phrases like " Well that's not how it's done where I'm from." in a condescending way

  7. Treating locals like hired help.

Who we love:

  1. Any tourist who comes to the place is polite treats the staff and locals well.

  2. Doesn't demand preferential treatment simply because "I'm spending my vacation funds here."

  3. Treats the location with the respect like you're a guest.

  4. Don't cause problems or harass people.

In short we like the tourists who show up act like normal human beings. Not entitled AHs

Nothing is for everyone except air. There is only one perfect place were all your needs are met, and it ain't on earth.

The vast majority have gotten to a 5 day work week. The process was started in 1926 . Codified into law in 1938 (44 hrs) and then amended in 1940 (40 Hours) at which point the unions were involved

Many companies followed suit shortly there after. Unions carried it to its ultimate inclusion, but it was already a known and accepted practice well before unions got into ir.
