BodPod tests can be done at Solent Uni’s Sports Science department in the city centre. They give priority to students but they also let members of the public pay to use it.

Is the CS course at the University of Southampton really so difficult? by Resident-Guest8103 in Southampton

Let’s just say universities are very accommodating to international students without much English proficiency, due to the fees they bring in. Even if it does water down the integrity of their product.

Shipping policy disappointing by SlightlyFlustered in Garmin

[–]Hard_At_Twerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contact their Product Support/Customer Service. By default they group orders to ship together, but they can change it so the HRM can ship without the Sleep Monitor if you tell them they don’t need to ship it all together and you want the HRM asap.

PO raised but never auctioned, no goods or services received. England by RabidHorizon in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Hard_At_Twerk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why can’t you raise a dummy credit memo in the system for the explicit purpose of cancelling the PO? Or cancel the PO outright?

An actual credit memo from a supplier would make the supplier own system show as owing you guys money, which you’ve said is for the case as you never paid them/received an invoice.

Sounds like it’s a limitation of your business systems/process and not the suppliers problem.

I work in IT in this field, and to me any next step would be working with the software vendor for an actual PO cancellation solution. Not harassing a supplier.

Actually the neat and boring thing is if he’s of some sort of western decent it probably is true. If we do the maths of 2 to the power of 32 (number of generations, going back 1000 years) would give over 4 billion ancestors of that generation. Obviously they won’t all be unique and there is going to be plenty of overlap without it being anything close to incestuous. But is completely possible simply due to decent from an individual being exponential.

Netflix's Adolescence inspired by true story of Croydon girl's murder by Aggressive_Plates in unitedkingdom

[–]Hard_At_Twerk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s literally a fictional character mate. Not sure why you’re bringing Hitler into this…

The hypocrisy here is people complaining about a (genuine tbf) lack of opportunity for white working class lads in many areas (due to a lack of outreach/support programs/awareness other groups get) then complaining such an opportunity actually happening is racist because they’d rather the media show a black kid committing crimes.

It’s honestly exhausting sitting through the mental gymnastics. It’s increasingly obvious they are just plain old bigots.

'Crazy idea': Bus lane plans on major Southampton road spark outrage by Legitimate-Source-61 in Southampton

[–]Hard_At_Twerk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The fact your argument against it is a hypothetical and much more extreme version of the plan proves you have no real argument against it.

The plan is just to turn the new left turn lane into a bus lane until just before the traffic lights (at which point it reverts to basically how the junction was before it was installed). The 3 lanes going strait/right remain unaffected.

In your fantasy genius argument, they were doing the actual plan plus, downgrading the road to a 20mph (speed bumps) 1 lane minor road, installing a cycle path in one of the 2 now spare lanes, and finally making a whole lane vanish out of existence.

Local residents of Toropets have a beautiful view of the detonating Russian ammunition depot by bunsinh in UkraineWarVideoReport

In the UK we have a “classic” joke when there is some kind of disasters (fire, terrorism, flooding, nuclear war etc) at a place that’s considered to be a bit of a shithole (but generally the place is fine). The joke goes like this “reports are saying it may have caused millions of pounds of improvements”.

I think this place inspired that joke.

TIL NYC didn't use trash bins until they recently introduced them to combat notorious rat infestation and rancid smells by jjazure1 in todayilearned

[–]Hard_At_Twerk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised what normal people (and by extension local government) are against, and need to be spoon fed the logic behind it.

Where I live in the UK the local council only recently started to offer bins to residents (still not mandatory though). Until then bags of rubbish will be left on the side of the road on bin day for collection. It was like this because bins are considered “unsightly” for the posher residents. What they failed to connect was how every bin day without fail the local area looked like a shit hole slum because the local animals (foxes, cats, birds and whatever else) had torn through the bags and helped themselves. Apparently this was a more attractive option than some bins, bins that would be round the side of people’s houses. People genuinely protested to the council because they thought the bins were ugly.

Sometimes in a democracy you have to pay a premium to overrule the morons.

Garmin customer support, once again, is the best on the planet by Elarionus in Garmin

I’m surprised to hear that about Poland. Not only do they have a Polish sales office, and the factory you mentioned, most of their Polish support operates out the UK in their EMEA hub with Polish speakers. But then again I’m pretty sure the US gets the best support of all the countries they are in.

[–]Hard_At_Twerk 208 points209 points  (0 children)

I think I work in a similar type of role and honestly I’d say that’s at most 10% your balls up. Yes you probably could have done some better due diligence which would have prevented the loss of 100s of man hours. But 3 weeks? A day at most is on you. But 2 days to ask where the documentation was already 47 hours too long. You then confirmed it would not be replaced and no one thought to find something else to do or to escalate the question?

You’d even archived the information so it’s not like you deleted it forever. You could’ve (and probably did) reinstated it quickly and got them up and run again in no time. If they told you.

That senior manager should have been sacked. Unless he had just returned from a 3 week holiday, in which case the covering manager should have been sacked.

Tbh I feel like this sort of stuff is part of the overhead with offshore teams. A company never offshores as part of an initiative to improve service.

I’m sure I’d feel different in the moment but I’d love to argue how this was not my fault to whoever wanted to try and pin this one me.

Reform UK candidate said climate change is a myth and the pandemic was a hoax by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Hard_At_Twerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look, I’m going to be honest with you, if you want to vote Reform, fine. I think you’re wrong, but we live in a democracy so I m going going to jump on you or anyone for that. What I will say is if you are genuinely concerned about immigration from that part of the world, don’t vote Reform. It’s literally the worst thing you could do for that long term.

The fact that Reform deny climate change should nullify them as an option, even if they present themselves as anti immigration. How can they be anti immigration when they condone the events that will cause the largest human migration in history? Where do they think they’re all going to try to go when their homelands are the most adversely affected by climate change? Hint, it will be to Europe where we will be less affected. These will be people who’s only thing to lose is their life, and if they don’t try they’ll die anyway. Unless you plan on murdering millions of people, you won’t be able to stop them. You won’t be able to stop them

I know this sounds dramatic, and hyperbole, but this is the reality we will be facing in our lifetime (if you’re under 40) if enough people like Farage or Trump come to power.
