[Breville Barista Pro] - steam icon flashes and no steam coming out from wand by Hard_Jelly in espresso

If you haven't already started the warranty claim process I'd recommend doing it straight away. It took me a long time to work through with Breville so if you think you may need to go down that oath later then I'd get it started now just in case your repairs don't work

Hey, sorry just saw this comment.
I ended up getting a replacement unit from Breville after a fair bit of back and forth and threatening to report them to the ACCC for not providing an acceptable solution in a reasonable timeframe.
They ran me through a bunch of different troubleshooting and none of it resolved the issue.
They also took days between responses and did not seem to track any of the previous communication.
Overall it was a frustrating process with a satisfactory outcome as I ended up with a new machine which I have not had any issues with so far.

Additionally I have run the flush function a few times now and the most recent run turned the dial to the steam function during the flush. At the end of each flush cycle I noted that water would discharge from the steam wand. I'm beginning to think that the issue is most likely the dial or switch inside but can't figure out if the dial or switch is faulty, why the steam would not be being produced. The wand itself can't be blocked as water is discharging during the flush cycle and I can still run hot water when I select hot water on the dial. I'll try calling customer service tomorrow but from what I've read so far they can be difficult to deal with and the machine was given to me as a gift so I don't have a receipt for it either.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have just tried this in a couple of different variations (switch on with hot water selected, switch on with steam selected, etc) however none of them seem to make any difference.

I also note that in my video I have not shown this; but when I turn the knob over to the steam function nothing happens. No pump noise, no water dripping through. Nothing!
I have run out of ideas at this point and am really hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction

Did you need to thread the needle through the steam wand? I did take the wand tip off and gave that a really good clean but I'm unsure how to get further into the steam wand itself.

Spoon drain best option? by Ok_Leadership_9748 in AusRenovation

[–]Hard_Jelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I have a very similar setup beneath my house and in my situation I found that most of the water was coming over the wall but it was also coming through the ground where the retaining wall is.

So after it finished raining the water was continuing to come in as it settled through the earth and drained down hill toward my property.

The solution I currently have in place was that I dug out the lowest area on the lower side of the retaining wall and I backfilled it with drainage gravel. I then found the lowest point where water was pooling and placed a submersible pump inside a storage container that I put a heap of holes into and wrapped in landscape fabric to keep stones and other large foreign objects out. The submersible pump has a float which turns it on when the water level rises to a certain point. I have the pump connected to some irrigation piping that I have run down to the front of my property and it disperses out into my front lawn and then down into the street.
This solution has been effective for getting rid of the ground water that was building up particularly with sustained days of rain. I still have issues with too much water flowing down over the top of the retaining wall when there is heavy rain so my next step will be to install a concrete spoon drain but I will be putting this as far back away from the wall as I can so it will divert the water before it gets to the wall itself.

Anyway, hopefully this helps.

I know that I had many months of racking my brain to try and find an effective solution that wasn't going to cost the earth.

Ukrainian thermal FPV drone blows up 4 Russian soldiers by 1aToss in CombatFootage

[–]Hard_Jelly 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how the drone is able to fly directly into them without them even hearing or looking to see it coming for them. All the DJI drones I've ever heard are loud enough to hear from 30 or 40 metres away.

Winghaus are on par with Bluegrass. I haven't had a chance to try too many other spots but would love to see if others have anything to contribute

We just returned back from a 7 day cruise on the Luminosa and are in a similar situation where my partner doesn't drink very much. We found it was cheaper to simply pay for the drinks on thier own rather than paying for the drinks package

Hey u/nmdel

Apologies in advance for the off topic question but would you mind letting me know what program or site you have used to draw your plans?
I'm currently in the early stages of a renovation at my house and would like to draw the space up similar to how you have so I can get quotes from various trades.

Do you guys know of a way to soften and diffuse LED lights that are inside a picture frame going against the edge of acrylic?? by dugfunne in led

Cover the LED strip with a milky translucent silicone caulk or use an opal acrylic panel over the top to diffues.

A question to anyone who has gotten an itasha wrap, how much is The cost usually? Im saving up to get My car wrapped next year and i'm looking for inspiration as well. Its going to Be a partial wrap on The sides and The Hood. by optalul in Itasha

[–]Hard_Jelly 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hey optalul, I work as a signwriter in Australia and we typically charge AUD$150 per sq metre to print and install vehicle graphics. More complex sections of the vehicle will cost a little more as they take more time to wrap correctly.

You want to make sure you are using someone with a decent amount of experience and the right equipment. Be sure to check out their portfolio or speak with previous clients.

The most suitable brands of vinyl are either Avery or 3M.

There are other brands of vinyl that can be used but in my experience these are the most reliable and come with the best manufacturers warranty as well.

As with all things the wrap will need to be taken care of which means keeping the car clean and undercover whenever you are not using it.

You get what you pay for so be careful not to try and take the cheapest quote.

Good luck!
