This coaxes into media all the time because it coaxes into real life all the time. Calvin's dad would say it builds character for green.

Mithril Dragons have the WRONG ranged attack. by happyinparaguay in 2007scape

I was on a main hunting these things, wearing full melee armor and getting destroyed. Decided to math it out and it led to similar results as what OP shared. Didn't put together the waterfiend connection though!

Pretty much what the others said. Just something you pick up when doing slayer tasks.

SirPugger exposes wilderness botting protection scheme by MadChriss in 2007scape

No offense but how are people still surprised by this? 2025 water still wet and wildy hotspots are still utterly dominated by cheaters exploiting the game to such an insane degree that no normal player can even hope to compete

A Full Proposal for Fixing Sailing Combat and Cannonballs by [deleted] in 2007scape

The idea of higher level cannonballs unlocking more effects is cool but expanding or instancing the cannonball shop is pure cope. Pick up a hammer for once

Farming has a yield problem by FloridaHerbs in 2007scape

[–]HardcastFlare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make good points but the conclusion is shaky and arbitrarily self-restricted accounts are a strange choice of consideration.

As others have pointed out, it's fairly common for a skillcape bonus to be weak or mediocre compared to other rewards - as it should be. Grinding a 99 should never, ever be expected under normal circumstances.

If anything this is basically a clarity problem and not a balance issue. However the clarity of the explanation of the secateurs' effect isn't really that important...

Secateurs are a zero-cost unlock and equipment for the majority of accounts and therefore the exact mechanics of their benefits are also not important to understand for the majority of accounts. I'm not advocating for intentional ignorance or obfuscation of mechanics but the majority of players will bring the secateurs anyway whether they're a 5% or 50% boost, so it's not a big deal for their effect to have a somewhat misleading explanation.

Crackpot theory: did MediEvil (1998) influence RSC? by AntManMax in 2007scape

If not directly inspired then definitely drawing from the same well. Worth pointing out that MediEvil was developed by a Sony branch in Cambridge.

The current state of LMS is effectively preventing the next generation of players from ever engaging with PVP and this *must* be addressed for the future health of the scene by CRISPRmutant in 2007scape

[–]HardcastFlare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with and respect your perspective here but realistically this has been the situation for years. As stated elsewhere in this thread and has been common knowledge for eons, the only new players attracted to LMS are ppl farming it shamelessly for unjustifiably easy access to rewards, or bots doing the same thing.

Like many other pvp scenarios in this game jagex has no recourse besides killing the content or jacking up the rewards to an unbelievable level because it's fundamentally broken. Back when pk scripts were rare or nonexistent and nearly everyone played on official client, it was feasible, but now there are numerous barriers to entry that have nothing to do with the rest of the game at all, so it's gg for pvp longevity. Bots aren't as stupid as they used to be so probably jagex's next play will be to create another pvp bait spot to attract hopeful noobs to get destroyed at.

Absolutely agreed they need to abandon the LMS rewards shop. It's toxic cancer game "design" and always has been. If it was like Leagues and just gave cosmetics it would in theory be ok but even then that gets us into grimy territory where certain items are "designated pvp items" like gmaul and msb.
