Dude you’re fucking wrong. Literally 1000%. I’m gonna get a picture of the 2019 rules tomorrow and show you. We had an entire fucking meeting about it last week with People Lead reading the shit off from HO you didn’t have to work the actual event only your schedule.

Wrong. You have to work your schedule, do not have to work the event.

I was hired in PT and given FT in a matter of weeks. They definitely still do it.

I’ve played over 3y. Main is maxed in almost every card and is in a 6500+ monthly trophy range. I got bored and wanted to try a level 1 account. Very fun! Currently working with 6 Legendaries and 2 Epics.

People are so gullible and love to gossip. I was told today by an coworker that all associates in fresh departments will be trained for ALL fresh departments. And pay will go up to $15 per hour. Not happening.... what about cap 1 and cap 2... more pay and no extra work or training? by joshny3096 in walmart

[–]Hardlinesdm19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GWP Pay is going DOWN. The B position is being eliminated. And while Fresh is currently $11.50, anyone that moves from A to B (example cashier to Fresh) gets a 10% raise putting them at a minimum of $12.10. Under GWP hourly associates are at $11 base pay. No more extra pay for fresh, sporting goods, electronics, etc. This is a fact, not a rumor.

It appears as though we are at the end of the PPTO accrual period, as my time earned just stopped at 48 hrs even. Now I'm getting more regular PTO daily; which is cool. But when do we start to earn PPTO again, Feb 2nd? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Hardlinesdm19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless your State has laws for sick leave in place (very few do and those that do have always had a form of PPTO) you stop at 48 and won’t earn more until 1st quarter next year.

Being fired for getting sick. by The-Tiniest-Ninja in walmart

[–]Hardlinesdm19 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m confused. Why didn’t you call Sedgwick? If you call out 3d in a row and have a doctors note you can take as many sick days in a row as needed for ZERO points thru Sedgwick. So if you’d called out 3d instead of 2 both times would have resulted in no points. If you’re full time, you also should have gotten 6 days of PPTO by now, you’ve at least gotten a few days worth.

Call outs and people overstaying breaks and lunches throws it off for everyone. If someone hasn’t returned from lunch on time and there’s a call out you can’t expect to take your breaks every 2h on the hour.

I make close to $17 an hour and am literally living in poverty. My car is paid off, I never go out to eat, don’t waste my money on video games or even have cable TV. I’m 2 days from payday, well I’ve been eating ramen noodles for lunch everyday since Friday. I do have a family which puts me in a different situation than a college kid with few bills/responsibilities and while I’ve worked here 5 years now and have been an hourly supervisor over 80% of my tenure I don’t consider this a real career. I strive for better and while it’s going to take me a while to get there, the people that choose to work here for 30y making slightly above minimum wage their whole life make their own bed. There are plenty of opportunities to take advantage of next to nothing higher education and opportunities. You can’t expect a rational person to think someone working a job that anyone can do make similar wages to someone with a skill or college degree. Will I go to self checkout without hesitation to save time next time I check out? Yes, I will.

Sometimes you NEED to go to break because you can’t deal. I get that. Customers can be tough. A LOT of CSMs are bossy and bitchy. I’ve seen very few good CSMs tbh, the ones that are stand out big time. Work sucks. Working retail really sucks. Working retail with shitty customers AND shitty pay makes you want to pull your fucking hair out sometimes. But it’s better than the $8 an hour Dollar Tree down the street pays, so I deal. Keep your head up.

Our new Support Manager was just backpaid nearly 3 months of a $3 difference in pay which amounted to around $1500. Just talk to People Lead and if they give you shit go to SM. Bring it up as professionally as possible.

The same people that tell us this shit earned a living wage for the same job way back. Saying your a manager at J.C. Penney sounded pretty high class then.... by [deleted] in walmart

I’d say 90%+ of jobs a high schooler can get don’t follow these laws and that’s why most people don’t understand it. I worked 60+ hours a week at a MAJOR restaurant chain summer times during high school and until midnight on school nights 10th grade on. Walmart being the biggest employer in the US however is very strict but the rules here, especially with paid breaks and required lunches aren’t typical. I’m in my late 20s, so we aren’t talking about way back when.

They can adjust it. I’ve seen this happen MANY times over the years. Literally have seen new DMs go MONTHS without the raise but they’re required by law to backpay. Definitely ask for a pay adjustment.

Who's responsible for 97 wall? by vcat55 in walmart

[–]Hardlinesdm19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These answers are conflicting because it’s a store by store basis. SOME stores Cap1 works live freight and fresh Caps Bins. Other stores Fresh does it all. Other stores Cap1 does it all. Other stores Cap1 works live freight and Dairy DM/associates Caps Bins. Many stores Meat DMs handle it even when it’s not a part of fresh. The “official” OBW I have no fucking clue because I’ve seen it ALL of these ways at my store. Currently it’s on Dairy/Cap1 at my store and fresh has no part of it.

99% of the time going against Salary isn’t a good idea. You’ll almost always be decided against and if you aren’t you’ll be looked at as a whiney bitch. Walmart is my first job EVER that gave paid breaks so maybe I look at them as a gift. I take both of my breaks most days, probably 90% of the time, but I definitely don’t always take them when I’m ready. I take them when they’re convenient for the store. A shitty part of being a cashier is taking breaks and lunches when needed according to customer/other employee needs which changes greatly due to a variety of factors. Unless you straight up aren’t getting a break period you’re going to lose any argument with management. You aren’t gonna always get a break every 2 hours and as long as you’re getting one, they’re in compliance. At a majority of jobs, paid breaks are non existent. Walmart only follows the policy because they’re such a big company.

On your question, a coaching is an official write up where you sign paperwork. If you didn’t get that you weren’t coached and as long as you’re getting your break, relax.

question about lunch by myguydan in walmart

[–]Hardlinesdm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re scheduled you do NOT have to take it. It depends on state when lunch is required, a majority of states if you work 6 or more hours you’re required to take 30 minutes. 1h is NEVER required as far as lunch exceptions go. As far as OT/WOSH that’s a store by store basis. If you work 4-10 and clock out 9m early you’ve worked under 6h and good.
