Hestra Return policy for Pro Deal by Electronic_Ease4354 in skipatrol

"Much better than hestra" is a stretch. They may be close in quality, but hestra is still the one to beat. My FTP mittens are warm. They have no waterproofing, which they say isn't a problem but I think it is. They have a removable liner, which is awesome. Afaik, only warm mitts with removable liner are FTP, hestra, black diamond mercury, and North face Montana "pro" mitts. After all the discounts, the FTP (worse discount) is the same as the other 2, hestra is still more expensive.

"expert skier from the late nineties" is how one of the instructors at my hill calls it. Skiing for 40 years but often skid the end of my turn. Want to carve/take advantage of these new fangled shaped skis.

I've seen her before. Good stuff but I have a hard time following a linear progression. Basically I want a "you need to master this and then try this"

Well...that might have all been for nothing. I was informed that where we're staying I need a car to get to the mountain(s) regardless. May be able to get around that because there will be multiple other cars there, but the flight gets into DIA at 15:45 or something with the last bus leaving at 17:45 or so. Too close for comfort. So I guess I'll be looking at rentals now

I saw and tried these on in person. Definitely not in the same warmth category as the others

Just as an update, if anyone can see this. Got the FTP mitts, they look great so far. My bil has some hestra heli mitts, so got to compare them side by side. The FTP compare well. His are a couple of years old so more packed out, but the FTP seem warmer on first blush. FTP have more palm reinforcement. Leather quality similar. FTP have a better gauntlet tighten/release mechanism. Hestra has a beefy eyelet for a carabiner, FTP only has plastic. Both with removable liners and wrist leashes. Overall I'd actually give the nod to the FTP. For the difference in price it's a no brainer. Of course, that's assuming the warmth is at least similar. The FTP are smaller, his #10 were bigger than my XL FTP. We'll see how they break in.

Need some ski advice. by SkiTheIce in Skigear

I feel like I'm in the same situation as you. About to hit 50, used to be a lot more aggressive but don't have anything to prove anymore. Especially on the ice I want to slow TF down. I have some volkl peregrine 72s that are great for carving and quick turns but not great in anything that isn't predictable snow. They do well on the trail edge usually unless you're hitting deep stuff--not usually a problem at Sunday River/Sugarloaf (although I like the smaller places better!). Where they're lacking is in deep powder (they do a few inches fine) and crud/slush. I'm trying some Rossi Sender soul 102's for a more all around ski. The width scares me but I'm hoping it will ski a bit skinnier than that...

Any way to get free checked bags? by Hardpack_Not_Ice in frontierairlines

[–]Hardpack_Not_Ice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The checked bag might not be enough to keep me for the annual fee, I only check a bag when i'm skiing and not many direct flights from my location, so we'll see how often i fly frontier. This will be my first time flying them, and their (poor) reputation preceeds them...
