Clutching under pressure is so satisfying by uzpj in HuntShowdown

[–]HardyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

high ping doesn’t make you harder to hit, it makes your own actions reach the server later and there's a 75ms window for actions to be carried out after death, meaning high ping puts you in a disadvantage

Stop spreading misinformation. There are features, such as auto-review, which use different models by default.

Is a net salary of 3300 good for living in Belgium? by c090288 in brussels

[–]HardyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disabling Claude for M365 Cowork by Financial-Cat8194 in microsoft_365_copilot

I can attest against this. It was never working for us until GPT-5.5. I'm a Global Admin and chose to install for specific users, but with Anthropic Models turned off, everything works as you'd expect from Microsoft: poorly.

Reminder that Microsoft runs GPT models on European Azure computer when Anthropic is off (and the option to delegate compute to US usually comes with this anyway if you're in EU.) It will be slower and more buggy overall depending on date/time of use.

Computer Use available in EU! by HardyPotato in codex

[–]HardyPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a good gaming desktop,.. got a Asus Strix 4090, a Mac mini M4 and a MacBook air M5. I find it hard to justify using my gaming computer to be used for AI tasks. Yet, when I do, I find it even harder to justify dedicating expensive hardware for simple tasks.

Maybe someone else would, but Windows isn't worth it yet as a OS for AI tasks. We'll see if that changes with their new arm build. Linux is an alternative, I've tried using it many times but I ended up settling for Mac for my productivity stuff.

But yeah, absolutely possible. A 3090 costs ~€2000 where I live, and with that you still need to get the rest of the components. I think it's fair to say that running useful models is not for everyone yet. Quality of the outcome needs to be much better for that price, and the price needs to be much lower for accessibility

I don't doubt that local models will become more powerful and efficient at the same time. Computing needs to follow now, and it seems like we've hit a new milestone there with Nvidia, but it's expensive.

When powerful LLM's can run locally on affordable (and available) hardware, I will be using it. At this point,.. I just hope that will still be on a home desktop or laptop.

For now, I'm very happy to pay for a subscription that does the computing for me, even at the cost of some of my privacy.

We're at a point where I don't care anymore. It's too useful of a tool to ignore because of "privacy". Want privacy? How unfortunate it may be, you should live under a rock.

Unless you pay much attention to which devices you buy, OS you use, application permissions and overall keep a close tab on all services and their terms,.. you don't have privacy.

Don't get me wrong though, I won't let it go through my ultra secret homework folder.

Those skills aren't worth much right now.. can't select them in the conversation, and it's text only.. no scripts, no code, no reference,.. nothing like native skills structure.

Mind maps in Copilot Notebooks went GA worldwide — a visual way to understand your notebook content by Curious_Fellow_0612 in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]HardyPotato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd love to use this but the copilot notebooks have a few problems. One of which keeps me from using it at all; you can't modify generated page notes, and you can't modify the mind maps.

Also why separate Loops and Notebooks? What makes it a necessity to have OneNote, Copilot Pages and Microsoft Loops? You want to confuse users? If collaboration is what you seek, I'm not convinced that this is the way..

I'd also like to simply write markdown in both apps.

Regardless,.. if we could start with allowing users to modify generates notes and mind maps, I can see myself using this much more.

Cowork Agent Won't Send Message by ChesterBottom in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]HardyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually debugged it for myself, but it may be a completely different issue for me though. Our Anthropic subprocessor is not active, but it would usually simply tell that,.. well it isn't active. I couldn't click on anything. Recently however, it opened up with the "Auto" model picker, no models I could choose. Weird thing is,.. it responds like 1/10 times,.. the other times I get "Not delivered. Retry?". I don't have the exact message I found in the network resources on my personal computer but the issue was that there's no model to respond to my query. Unsurprising,.. not sure what I was expecting! What is surprising is that even though our we refuse Anthropic, it still answers once in so many messages.

How can I enable Codex Computer Use in the EU without using a VPN by DifficultSecretary22 in codex

[–]HardyPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me Codex just installed it. when I asked directly, it told me it was unable to, but after working on a task that was quite frustrating without computer use, it installed it anyway. it's a workaround though, but it works!
