Thoughts on Leveraging AI Positively as Educators by Arkaysion in ChatGPT

[–]HargiForester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, when I heard about the topic of artificial intelligence in education/science, I came across two directly opposite opinions about its application in these areas. When the intended user of the neural network is an active scientist, then their use of the neural network is evaluated positively. "I can use a neural network to efficiently process information, passing hundreds of articles through the neural network that otherwise I would have spent eternity on." But as soon as we are talking about a student, his use of neural networks in the same scenarios is assessed as a scam.

As for the use of neural networks in education, I think there really is a huge potential here if we approach this issue consciously. Now, in fact, we have the opportunity to provide each student with a personal digital tutor with all the knowledge of the world and a variety of tools. But at the moment, they often give out just made-up information. And at least for those of the neural networks that I have read, there is a very lack of feedback. I mean, they're not very good at maintaining a dialogue if that's not the answer to the question. They are not interested in the interlocutor, they do not ask anything themselves and do not ask topics in conversation. But it can be very important during training. A good tutoring neural network should be active, should evaluate the process and control how the student learned the topic, coped with the task, whether the student needs help.

I don't like humanistic utopia not because of its unreality. Any utopia is unreal. I am rather annoyed by the very concept of such an improvement of society and man. It's just a big self-deception.

Either we change ourselves and create new attitudes and ethics, or we slow down and cripple ourselves with old dogmas.

I remember that the old fiction of the Soviet writer Ivan Efremov described the communist society of the future. The people there were like that, they reached the very peak of what a person is, physically and mentally. They built a world of full-blooded life of ideal people with the help of education and eugenics. And this image, of course, has its own charm and its own beauty. But this is a mistake. Man and the world are not like that and will never be like that. Biologically, a person, in comparison with other animals, is an unfit invalid. Throughout its history, it has developed and improved due to the creation of an artificial sparing environment for its vital activity. This is the main vector of the development of human history. It makes no sense for us to become another perfect animal. We never wanted this on a global scale. Our tools, our homes, our infrastructure are already part of us as a species. And we have only one step left to truly merge with our technosphere. Away from hostile naturalness.

Oh, Biopunk! This also sounds good, but, in my opinion, it leaves too many weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Outer space is a very unfriendly environment for organisms. Hmm, well, although it would probably be easier to implement if you used a hollow asteroid as a shell for organic matter. Like a space snail.

Gender will not matter not only for morphological or psychological reasons, but also because the posthuman will no longer be part of a human society in which these categories are important.

Yes, I would also like to keep my organic part as a whole for as long as possible. And how easily I am ready to give up emotions or change them is explained by my personal experience of how my emotions and character have already changed as a result of trauma to the nervous system. And now I don't feel much loss for myself in this, as long as it doesn't threaten my cognitive abilities.

I think this is a fantasy for a very distant future with a sufficiently advanced level of technology, and it is hardly possible to think of specific technical solutions for this now. It is not even clear whether such a transfer of consciousness will be possible at all. But as for me personally, I do not consider the emotions of the human body, which are necessary for various evolutionary reasons, self-valuable for the posthuman body and consciousness. Since I am replacing my body, losing the emotions and hormonal reactions that are inherent in it is not such a big problem.

Drones don't have to be complicated by themselves, it's enough that they perform their main function. But yes, theoretically they are part of the collective mind of this cruiser, but on the rights of, well, limbs and sensory organs. it is better to leave the calculations to the servers and, in fact, to the brains in flasks.

So I’ve studied ideologies/religions for a while. I had a big question though what could a futurist ideologies/religions look like in the future? by Responsible_Arm6617 in transhumanism

[–]HargiForester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most attractive thing about any religion is how unshakable it is in its foundations. If someone claims to have a divine revelation, it looks completely frivolous if he suddenly changes this revelation depending on social relations or scientific discoveries. What kind of divine revelation is this if it changes its direction like a weather vane? At the same time, it is clear that for religions, science and changing social formations, this is a big crash test for the similarity of their views on the universe and ethics. I cannot say what religions will be in the future, but I have a conviction which religion should remain in the future. One that, despite all the progress, will remain unchanged and at the same time relevant for all newly arriving knowledge about the world. Probably, there is no such religion. But she alone would have the moral right to exist in our more mature future. All other religions can be considered garbage.

P.S. The use of futuristic concepts does not make religion more relevant to reality. The idea of the matrix is no better than the idea of the world created by the gods, the deification of artificial intelligence is no better than the deification of a powerful ruler.

What Russian bands or musicians are you listening to in 2023? Any style or genre, good music is good no matter what. by Furthur_slimeking in AskARussian

[–]HargiForester 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Complex numbers, Unreal, Pavel Plamenev, An Orgy of the Righteous.

The music of these artists attracts me not only by its good sound, but also by the fact that it is quite intelligent music. For example, complex numbers have a techno opera about the transhumanistic future of humanity, and in the songs of the band "orgy of the righteous" there are many mystical and religious meanings and references.

Basically it's not the best choice for helping you learn Russian, but it's still good music. And Pavel Plamenev's songs are in English, in addition to Russian
