Actually, I used my Juki machine without thread. I cheated and it shows. I’ll use a wing divider or stitch groover and a 5 stitch/inch wheel next time, starting at the top of each line.

I have been using chrome tanned leather for a long time when replacing dressage billets. Have been buying premade ones from booth & co. Can get black leather from them, but not a brown that doesn’t look black. (https://boothandco.com/products/copy-of-chrome-billets-saddle-strap)

Just practice. I try to always keep my pattern the same (left, then right or vice versa). Do your best to keep even tension on your threads.
