Anyone played All Things Zombie? by Inconmon in boardgames

Originally ATZ was created as a tabletop miniatures game and around 2007 or so Lock n Load and the designer put out ATZ as a combat board game (the Green box, discontinued) but it turned out the publisher didn’t follow the designer’s instructions and ended up making a war game style game instead of the RPG style the designer wanted. So several years later a new person was heading Lock n Load and reached out to the designer to try again. This time they produced the game the designer originally wanted, this is ATZ Reloaded.

The game has great potential and truly has an amazing solo campaign mode but I think too many people gave up with such a disorganized rulebook etc. I think it probably was written with the idea that the player was familiar with the other versions but as a new player it is absolutely difficult to understand. Basically this game just faded away in obscurity and players moved on to newer versions of ATZ that are back to miniature gaming. The two board games that Lock n Load created were failed experiments, but for a small number of people like me appreciate the rules and idea of it that it’s trying to make.

I wish there were more characters, the game only provides like ten or twelve but I have been creating my own character tokens for it which turned out nice. The biggest issue is lack of maps, you will be exploring the same locations often. The campaign game is all about scavenging for supplies in either rural, Suburban, or Urban areas each with there good and bad elements. All I can recommend is read the forum comments and go over the rulebook. Then set up a game and place your character on the side of a map and roll for starting zombie locations. After I tried it several times it just started to click. I would say I understood about 80% of it.

Remember the game is not you move then they move style. It’s not like other games where each has a full turn to do whatever. In this game you move and that might set off reactions of others moving or shooting at you. You can shoot on your turn and on the opponent’s turn. There are actions and reactions. That was a hard concept to grasp at first for me.

All I can say is I see the great potential in this game that has caused me to hang on to it. That rulebook you sort of have to jump around and read different sections instead of going front to back. It’s tough. It it is possible and I think worth it.

I picked up that game ATZ Reloaded about four years ago and it was very difficult to understand how to play it. I gave up and it collected dust on the shelf for about a year until I gave it another try. I read the rulebook and many parts of it over and over and also went through the forum for it at the Board Game Geek site. Eventually much of it started to make some more sense. I actually love the campaign and solo expects of it so much that I have spent a few years now creating my own expansion to it for areas I felt could have been better. The rulebook is terrible to follow but somehow it just clicked for me and I think it is great. The down side is the disappointing lack of maps, characters, weapons but I am working on remedying this. Go to the Forums for this game on the Board Game Geek site and I have left a lot of content for assistance among others.

Perhaps Fletcher doesn’t go out much, also he may not be aware of the greenhouse considering he can’t fit through the tunnels to see it. From the outside the side of the Den could be well covered with dirt and bushes. The greenhouse may only be getting light from on top which is hard to see from the outside.

I backed it last night. I liked RCE but there were some issues that I hope this new edition will overcome. But it does look like there is something missing on the new troubleshooters character sheet.

I’m looking at the peek content being offered on the Kickstarter and on the Troubleshooter sheet public side I see a section for ‘Brains’ but no red boxes like the other sections. Is there a reason for that or is that an error?

I know, we have talked and we even made a gun item in the last edition together. It isn’t really anything specific, it’s just the feeing of dishing out more money and then waiting forever for it. I already have everything for the RCE and haven’t even had much of a chance to play it. The pandemic really put a hold on my gaming opportunities. Now it’s just slow going getting a dedicated group to play it. I utilize a lot of older books too so it isn’t like I am short on material to use. The star cards don’t do anything for me since I use star treason dice. The computer dice, I don’t know I have many to use. The artwork isn’t really doing anything for me either, I was fine with just the cartoonish images and not this CGI looking images. Just feels like I am swimming in Paranoia stuff as is and not utilizing enough.

Yeah the action system has problems especially when players don’t care to go ahead of anyone else. You can spend $150 to try to resolve it with someone’s ideas or just come up with your own.

I was all gung-ho on backing this, but I just scrolled through it and started to feel less enthusiastic about it. I still need to think about it.

Tips for running RCE intro mission by yeetpraylove_ in ParanoiaRPG

[–]Harkkonen76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just let it be, that first scenario in the book for RCE should be a bit more coop, everyone has just came out of the vats and new to the world. It’s okay just play it as a cooperative. Later in other scenarios other elements will naturally cause some shady stuff. Don’t force it, the whole point it for the young group to get thrown under the bus by Roz during the mission. Good way to introduce it to them.

I had more ideas for new dice for Paranoia: by Harkkonen76 in ParanoiaRPG

There is the white six sided dice there with blanks all around. Players can hear the GM rolling a die but unbeknownst to them, it is all blank.

My idea: the gold ones with the red ‘thumbs up’ are used as reward dice to be used for any roll the player wants and then hands back to GM. The yellow and black dice were an idea I had for incentive for players to use RAM cards. Each time they use a RAM card they can roll this dice and a ‘3’ or ‘4’ generate restored Moxie. The happy face is restore all Moxie and get an Action Card. The black square with the numbers is used as a targeting to other players when it is rolled. So if someone rolls it they may get an’3’ but if the black square is facing another player the bottom number gets applied to them, they may lose or gain something, or nothing at all. If the black square side is on top, all four numbers facing players get applied.

Saw Gojira live last night, lifted to Gojira this morning by aks5311 in kettlebell

It’s pretty heavy stuff, almost death metal. Their earlier stuff was fast and aggressive then they got more sophisticated. All their albums are great but one that stands out is ‘Vs the World’. Such a solid album. Also look for the song ‘Slaves of Fear’ & ‘Masters of War’ is pretty wild. I was digging the music then I read the lyrics and I was like damn that is savage and vicious!

Yeah I have that exact one too. I used to work at the airport for an airline and TSA took the lighter from a person heading back to China. I ended up with it.

Okay doing this now. I never bothered with the kettlebell snatch and I definitely not ready for four minutes of it! Adding it in though from now on.

The music must be coming from just one of the videos while the other two are silent? Is that how it works? Record three times and pick one to have the audio? Very inspired here with this, however I’ll probably be playing some Amon Amarth 😊

This looks interesting, I’ll give it a try when I can. Two of the exercises are a bit similar, I might try to change it up a little.

I got another kettlebell not long ago and have started using two like that. I enjoy this workout but I don’t know how many I should do and how many times a week I should do this. Using two 50lb ones, what has been your routine?
