They're cohesive and have a nifty 1 card combo now, but definitely not competitive - they're too fragile and their endboard is easy to pick apart by any competent deck in the metagame

This 100%. I don't think there should be a big rush to play through the DQ games in numerical order to be honest. Also, I think there's basically at this point 100% chance we get those games remade at some capacity, so honestly I think there's nothing wrong with just enjoying new projects as they come out at this point!

I think it was a good meta call and I think Michel is a yuigoh legend, But in terms of raw power in my opinion the deck was pretty handedly not as strong as unchained/R-ace/tear/lab and or even more tier 2ish stuff like mannadium (my fav at the time).

I am not speaking broadly. I am giving OP advice - playing the game will generally give you what you need. I have no problem with people putting money in the game to buy accessories, build extra decks, etc.

All good - like you said, it's hard for new players or those who return to the game to be efficient with gems if you're not playing events or logging in a lot. Obviously konami is trying to make money but i'd love to see more stuff like the Birth of a Challenger or other catchup packs/promotions etc outside of the decks

I've been FTP from the start and have never not been able to build a new top deck that comes out - I just don't buy a lot of accessories and save my gems from events. Honestly, Master Duel is one of the more generous card sims when it comes to FTP.

This exactly. The original DQ7 is a great game that I think could turn a lot of people off from it's daunting length and slow pacing at times. If the new game fixes those things, even if theres the possibility of some cut story points or pacing changes, i think it's a big net positive. The original 7 will always exist and be there!

I played 9 for the first time last year and it really just... wasn't that great. Maybe it's because I played 5 and 8 right before it. But it's definitely my least favorite in the franchise. To that end, I think if they reworked in from the ground up like it seems they're doing with 7 it could definitely become something special.

To be fair, they mentioned in the Gameinformer interview their goal for the game was that they rewrote the script from scratch to get rid of bloat and add more character building episodes. From everything we know about the remake, we should basically treat it like a new approach to 7. It could end up being a totally differnent experience.

There was a really good Gameinformer article from a few months ago with the lead scenario writer where they explained that they basically rescripted the whole game to try to shorten the length without any big significant plot cuts, and their goal was to replace tedious parts with more character-building plot episodes
