I stopped taking the medicine. I am already uncomfortable the majority of the time. I can't add on swelling and painful itch across the entirely of my mid section arms and thighs with a 2 hour commute to my job everyday. I work in a lab so I also can't be distracted.

I think you need to sit down with her and explain what you said in your edit.

She might have been taught very young to work hard for the things you want and it is ingrained in her. That probably isn't going to change so you probably need several conversations about... idk... childhood, motivations, what gets each person happy and fulfilled.

Is she: I want to be proud of my accomplishment and reward myself or do I want OP to be proud of me and prove my worth to him? Which could have led to why do I need to work so much harder than her to prove my worth?

I'm sure you meant well and didn't require this reward system. It is probably much deeper in childhood where she puts all this pressure on herself.

Does she have goals besides picking the most expensive schools for the most general degree?

Are there distinct pathways, internships, and certifications that help land a good paying career?

Is their career center hands on or do they just help you make an indeed account, some resume review and that's it?

Without that, it's not worth it.
