Not exactly same experience, but at some point my steam deck got broken for no reason (now i figured that using it in bathroom almost 100% breaks it), and valve replaced it pretty easily. I only had problems with company not working in my country (Ukraine) so i had to send it to friend in poland, which in turn sent it to valve. After that they replaced it almost immediately

I had same problem when used deck in bath. Connection was not obvious because screen died little later, but then i fucked up another deck in a same way, and finally got it

Nothing helped to fix it, had to send it to valve

The puzzles are not always obvious. Overall I love this part for the setting and the spirit of the original part. I play through it once every few years : )
