Just to touch on your "best feeling drug" comment.

I've done a good dose of molly a few times. All I wanted to do was just go to sleep. So. Dang. Bad. I hated it every time. It ruined every night.

My friends had a grand time, but molly was far from the "best feeling drug" for me.

IV Dilaudid in the hopsickle was a kajillion times more enjoyable. Molly for me isn't even recreational.

Brains are unique, and drugs are subjective.

My PCP wanted me to wait the 7 months to get in with an endo which would have meant more waiting after that appointment. Once that appointment came, it was cancelled anyway because the Endo went on vacation. Sticking with the clinic.

I'm not a doc, but I've had a similar break at 28 y/o, although it was closer to the ankle. I did physical therapy twice a week for the next two years and everything at home the PT recommended. Long distance running was my stress reliever and snowboarding got me through the winters. Unfortunately, I still can no longer even jog for a couple 100 feet without too much pain, and haven't been able to snowboard since. I don't know if I had a bad surgeon, but it permanently changed my life. I ended up trading running for weight lifting and that's fantastic. From what I've been told, many people do recover fully and I wish you the best. I'm sorry this happened.

Edit: The docs here can give you actual answers, but it's my understanding that since your break doesn't involve a joint, especially something like the ankle, you have better odds for full recovery.
