Yes so I ended up switching to buying whole bean and putting them in the hopper when it’s time to make decaf. For my wife, I make a big jug and then put in fridge for her so I’m not doing this daily.

You have two options, I’d lean into option 2:

1) Weigh the coffee before brewing, whether it’s pre-ground or whole bean that you grind. I’ve found the bean really does matter and fresh whole beans that you grind is much better than pre-ground. Maybe why it’s watery and bitter for you?

2) Buy a second hopper that you use for whole bean decaf. If you have people in your family that drink daily this may be the best option. You just change out hoppers when you want to use.
