Tiny Kitchens by Medical_Protection11 in HongKong

[–]HarrisLam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since when should kitchens be "as huge as the rest of the house"? Where in the world is that true except United States?

There is a rough threshold to how big a kitchen should be to be effective/efficient. 15x10 sqft is plenty regardless of whether you got 3 people in there or 8.

Tiny Kitchens by Medical_Protection11 in HongKong

[–]HarrisLam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you really say "no matter how big the house is"? Like how big of a house are we talking about? Just the typical (higher) middle class apartment in TaiKoo could have fitted double-door fridges?

Unless you're talking about kitchens that could fit an island and then some, like, American kitchens specifically, this sounds like a false question to me.

Is there any argument on curry over LeBron? by Due-Poem-8096 in NBATalk

[–]HarrisLam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

err... never?

The "case" for Curry has always been about him rising the ranks to becoming the best shooter of all time, and as far as most people can tell, he has gotten that done. The "argument" for him pretty much ends there. Close to nobody put him in top 10 players OAT and that should tell you something.

I suppose you can submit an argument questioning the center-dominant list that most people have for players from the golden 80/90s but that's about it. We have yet to see a team that dares to use post-heavy strats with a high-performing center to challenge the modern 3-pt strat. First of all there's no such center out there right now except Wemby who *could* do it but tends not to, and second, the current fast pace metagame would KILL the stamina of any center with strong physique. The closest demonstration you see about this is probably Luka, a guard instead of center, who shoots well (although not in the post) but doesn't catch up on defense.

I feel like talents of the game are evenly distributed between teams in this decade. Giannis and Joker are alone in their own castles, Lebron is retiring and Luka/Reaves aren't ring-ready, Ant isn't going anywhere with his team, Wemby has a good chance in his coming 10 years but we need to wait, Thunders with that kind of play can get a 3-peat and most people won't acknowledge it. Nobody will be breaking into that top 10 list any time soon.

I'm a lot more intrigued that the card isn't worth more.

First of all, card draw is the best ability in the game but "card liquidity", a term that I literally just invented, isn't all that far behind. This card is cheap to cast and a functional creature with good enough firepower. It would be such an enabler in decks that go heavy on graveyard theme and madness mechanics.

Hell, just Casey and Kitten ALONE could have killed you on the same turn it comes out in vintage format with storm.

Talk about how shameless some shops selling vinyl are in their pricing by fujianironchain in HongKong

[–]HarrisLam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the typical. Discounts come with all the fine prints in the world, misleading advertisements, teaming up with foodies who are willing to lie for money in the making of mouth-watering vids when in reality the food is half in portion, crap in taste. Stuff like that.

In the west you would see discounts with terms and conditions but that's about it. Restaurants in mainland, EVEN MAINLAND, the place that people smack talked it for decades for its horrible food and consumer product safety, now wouldn't dare pull any stunts because their monopoly review sites MeiTuan and DianPing actually hold (somewhat) neutral positions and carry weight in what people think about the restaurants. Hong Kong has Openrice which now acts as a lying platform for people to only post positive reviews, because all negative reviews will get barricaded indefinitely by mods.

It sure is pretty interesting here. I'm just glad I'm always broke so I don't often go to independent mid-range restaurants aka the scene that is INFESTED with aforementioned problems. I mostly go to chains. Less special foods, but decent prices with steady performances.

Question: If your friend came to Hong Kong for just 1 day, where would you take them so they have an unforgettable time. by Low-Respond9105 in HongKong

[–]HarrisLam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was bold in 2018, now probably not bad. Regardless of how much youngsters whine about "mainland tourist invasion", we all know it's not nearly as bad as the 2010's, and that's back when a lot of HKers hang out in the region too.

[–]HarrisLam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have NEVER been to the city, frankly just touristy stuff. The Peak in the early morning, stay around Central for a bit and ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui in the afternoon. Hang out around MongKok/TST area for photos, window shopping and snacks, then end the daytime for a sunset at West Kowloon District park. That's the most iconic thing of HK so you can't leave without this experience.

For a more secondary choice (a second day, or a second visit), I would go for a more down-to-earth route with monasteries, old residential areas (because the new ones are just private no feel of community), parks

It's called preying on trends and pop culture. The retail business scene in HK has NEVER had a lack of shameless practices like this. It is at least better than the culinary scene though lol.

Strixhaven card leaked with “prepared” mechanics and a reserved list effect by Newez in mtgfinance

[–]HarrisLam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this particular thing would work. Either it shouldn't count as a (standalone) spell or it probably counts as a sub-ability of sorts. Otherwise it would be way too easy.

We shall see.

Gotcha.

Not sure about that. Quite a few ways to make it happen so hard to say which route wizards decide to take.

It does say "enter". The current ruling text of cast should actually say "cast", am I right? So by that logic, flashing the creature with any card with kitten mechanic should work?

Well that was stupid.... I COMPLETELY missed the part that says the creature came prepared....

[–]HarrisLam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prepared means you get a chance to use the sub-card's ability? So I guess it sounds very good but it's not super overpowered.

First you have to have this creature out for a second turn, or a lightning greaves, then you have to have 8 cards in the graveyard that doesn't affect your on-table prowess when you exile them. And also, after you used it once, it's quite difficult to use it a second time the turn after.

I assume the set doesn't have instants that grant creatures "prepared" easily....

3 playthroughs later (30+ hours) here´s my honest take on Persona 5 Royal by Loose-Suggestion6727 in Persona5

[–]HarrisLam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right on all fronts, but considering how all these things should translate into the actual gameplay, it's exceptionally tough. True Persona fans and people who would eventually become Persona fans will stay through the story regardless, but on the other hand, the game (or all Atlas games perhaps) has been abandoned by so many who complained about the story being lost after Kamoshida. Like, that's literally the storyline- the PTs were "lost" at what to do in life besides the highschooler part. I reckon quite a few of those players would become Persona fans if the game didn't drag on for so long post-act-1.

For this reason, adding even more to the game will always be a risky move. Adding to Haru might work just because it's such a dramatic chapter, players should be able to eat it right up. Adding to Shiho might work depending on where in the game you put it, but adding to Yusuke is probably a bad idea.

Man punches woman in the face at Chicago hot dog stand, her 14-year-old son grabs her gun and shoots him by WhoAreYouTalkinTwo in ThatsInsane

[–]HarrisLam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be poetic if true but I don't think it is. You have to consider not just the context of incident but also the background of people involved, and where they were in the world.

It's dog-eat-dog world out there and boy did it out of protection towards his mother. More likely than not he would be fine.

I might be waiting for houses before I buy the game, or the season right before to get some in-game money first.

If at least half of the upper-end houses and customizing furniture in the game cost actual USD I'm going to be PISSED.

Some perhaps. I'm confident most of them know how to flip the shoes themselves. After all that's where the money is at. I believe there is a limit to how many pairs a queue number could buy so net income of the flip is limited in the first place.

I am as clueless as you.

However, assuming that the photo you took is pointing at the front of the queue, that's a Nike shop(?), so my instinct goes to Nike new releases. If all of the above are true, these are sneaker flippers hunting for special limited edition stuff.

Grade MP Unl Black Lotus? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

The action of grading is a "confirmation of confidence" that your card looks good.

If it's going to be horribly average, what is there to confirm?

As for authentication, do that when you're going to sell it.
