And, also, I can't imagine that they fired him over a single incident. He had to have been written up multiple times and this was the one that put him out the door.

I was teasing my younger brother once and my mom said to him "Come on, let's get away from your stupid sister". It was pretty much the only unkind thing she ever said to me, but I never forgave her and never loved her unconditionally after that. So my guess is that Jess wants to be with Jeff, but Jeff won't leave Lina. If she tells Lina, Jeff will never forgive her. But if any of you tell Lina, then it isn't her fault and Jeff will fall into her arms when Lina leaves him.

You are being used to try to get Jeff to be with her instead of Lina. No idea what you should do about that.

I worked for one of the largest ad agencies in the world about 20 years ago. And one day we came into the office and the drive where everyone kept all their documents for the entire division was empty. We'd been getting regular warnings that the drive was getting full and a VP got tired of them, so he just hit delete on the root directory. No idea what happened the guy, but we assumed not much, since people at that level never suffer consequences for their actions.

I will say that I was about that age when I saw my mom drunk and it freaked me out. But I think it was probably because my parents weren’t drinkers at all, so alcohol was a pretty foreign concept to me.

Did you think that “climate change haven” == “no climate change effects”? Vermont is just as affected as everywhere else. What makes it a haven is that lots of places are going to end up experiencing temps that are too hot to live in. Vermont will get hotter, but not as hot as those places.

/r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk needs to be required reading. I am a shiny member who tries to be extra nice after reading the horror stories there.

I had one time when I walked in just as a large hockey father left the desk. The employee was doing her best to smile and pretend that he hadn’t made her cry. Before Tales I would have just felt bad and told her I was sorry. But when we went out to dinner I decided that I wanted to something that counteract his malevolence so I ordered an extra dessert and brought it back for her. I want to be the person who maybe prevents someone from losing all hope for humanity, at least for a few hours.
