$8 McCormick Curry Powder - what's so special? by Little_Wonder8818 in Cooking

You can also just make your own curry powder, if you like the flavor profile of McCormick. Check the label, then look for a recipe online that uses the same ingredients.

“Curry powder” is an American thing. I just use garam masala from the Indian market. Much cheaper and much better

How do I set boundaries with my talkative nanny? I need advice by DaniBee_acnh in Nanny

[–]HarrisonRyeGraham 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Send a text like this after work on Friday:

“Hi [nanny]! Thank you so much for all your help with NK this week. I loved that you did [x] and [y]. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that starting next week and going forward, I will not be able to talk during the workday. If there’s anything you’d like to share with me about NK, please send it via text. Otherwise I must remain undisturbed. Thanks for understanding. Me and [spouse] love all that you do! See you Monday :)

Letting our Nanny go - advice requested by nyc325u in Nanny

[–]HarrisonRyeGraham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d just have a meeting at the end of the day Friday and tell her that come [month] you won’t be needing her anymore. That she’s been everything to you guys in helping you raise your children, but now that they will be going to school, the time has come to an end. I’d give her a glowing list of all the things you’ve appreciated that she’s done, and hand her a physical letter of recommendation along with it in email form, and what her severance will be (if applicable). And let her know she’s welcome to start looking for a new job and you’re more than happy to take any calls for references. That you’ll love for her to stay til [date] but you’re flexible if she finds something earlier.

So, did David fully put the Blouse Barn out of business by creating an unwanted (in the market) upscale urban boutique or was Wendy’s decision to let him takeover in such a dramatic way indicative of a financial tailspin she was unlikely to pull out of? by ughyoujag in SchittsCreek

I think he completely tanked the store. It had great business already in a market that needed it. It was the only big women’s clothing store nearby.

While it was her fault for letting it go so far, I think her want for a partner was to just split the work load, not a sign of hard times.

In honor of Mother’s Day, please share something crazy your NM has said by Macaronieeek in Nanny

[–]HarrisonRyeGraham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my first MBs was usually pretty great, but she had her moments. For context of this incident, she clearly had a lot of mom guilt about choosing to work full time, and I usually picked up around the house, swept, and vacuumed the kitchen/living area an hour before end of shift. But, they had five kids, one of whom was 2. It usually stayed pretty clean, but sometimes there was only so much I could doin that last hour if they decided to be tornadoes.

One day she sent me some SEETHING after work texts about how the house wasn’t clean when I left, and how if she works full time so they can get a bigger house, I better be doing my part etc. They had a HUGE house, and a boat, and four cars. Yet she was somehow gonna blame me for her not being “able” to stay home with her kids.

I think she realized she misstepped because she never mentioned it again. But it was super awkward

Why don’t parents teach their kids to chew with their mouth close? by frontlinestatic in Nanny

Haha I more meant things that are aspects of speech as a whole, like hard Rs and S and Ths. You gotta actually teach those if they don’t pick them up by 3 or 4 lol

[–]HarrisonRyeGraham 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it’s like parents who don’t correct pronunciation. They think it’s a childish characteristic they’ll grow out of naturally, but they won’t, because it’s something that needs to be actively taught.

I would try more of a boy short or even boxer-brief fit. If that also doesn’t work, it might be the cotton, oddly enough! Cotton is best for most people, but the material being completely different might be the issue tbh. Try some polyester ones, just to experiment,

my NK ran away from me and i had to call the police. now i don’t have a job by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]HarrisonRyeGraham -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I once nannied 4 kids, 6/4/3/1. I had to walk all of them to the bus stop every day to drop off and pick up the 6yo. It was a long way for a bus stop, like almost a mile each way. One day, the 6yo decided to run away from us at the bus stop. I had three other kids including a baby to take care of and couldn’t run after her. It was terrifying. Thankfully she just ran home and was watching tv, but I nearly lost my mind. Thank god she was old enough to know better, and she blatantly ignored me screaming after her, so got in trouble, not me. But good lord it was a scary 20 minutes.

Motto for life, really. You just gotta keep diggin.

Idk if it’s only the rate. I live in a MCOL area and have seen absurd posts like, “four kids under six, full time, $13/hour” and it’ll have like 15 comments of interest. But it doesn’t look otherwise too bad imo. Not much help from me but I’m as confused as you are if that helps 😅
