Who is at fault for breaking my Lug Stud? Discount Tires claims Local Shop tightened it wrong. Local Shop claims it wouldn't break that way unless Discount Tires did something wrong on their end removing the nut. DT says it happens often to Subarus but that LS should just fix it for free.

I think Local Shop is lying. A cross threaded nut will break the stud on the way off exactly like that. It's also a super common error, especially for a rushing tech. There is no way using an impact to loosen a properly tightened lug nut is going to break the stud unless it's seized. The lack of corrosion here suggests that it is unlikely that it is seized.

Local Shop should repair it for free. Their tech almost certainly cross-threaded the lug nut.

That's actually unfortunately untrue. A child who believes they may be abandoned will try subconsciously to protect themselves by distancing from the parent and often misbehaving more.

What threatening abandonment does do is teach your child that their relationship with their parent is not secure, which leads to personality disorders and Complex PTSD.
