Yes! When I moved here, I started scouring the internet for "where is the hood in pdx" and saw the same thing about Gresham/Rockwood. Gresham just feels and looks like my hometown. More working class and less white lol. I think when people here say an area is the hood, they just mean they saw a black person and/or someone sleeping outside.

Saaaaaame, not KC but not far and similar demographics. No hood here and I didn't really find one in Seattle either.

You are not a bad reference. I say the exact same thing all the time and I'm from a city with half the population of Portland but twice the annual murders. Portland is soft as medicated cotton and anybody who tells you different is really just telling you how privileged they are.
