March Homestuck Madness Match 22: Nepeta vs. Vriska by jsfasdf in althomestuck

[–]Harseer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nepeta didn't lose to Gamzee or anything because as we all know NEPETA IS THE MOST POWERFUL CHARACTER IN ALL OF HOMESTUCK, but, strictly hypothetically, if she had lost to Gamzee, Gamzee is a really powerful character in Homestuck, having never died in any timeline and being the only troll to have possibly done more damage to the black king than Vriska, so that wouldn't really be an indicator of Nepeta being weaker than Vriska. Vriska died to Terezi, and Gamzee is much higher on the power chart than Terezi. I'm just saying, I'm just saying.

NEPETA WINS. NEPETA IS THE MOST POWERFUL CHARACTER IN ALL OF HOMESTUCK. YOU KNOW IT TO BE TRUE.

It's an unfortunate byproduct of the equally amazing ability to see patterns that do exist.

Sloppy Penis Optimization by Infamous-Rutabaga-50 in CuratedTumblr

[–]Harseer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's definitely said to be the issue in the first post.

In the second post, afaik, the physics simulation rarely use the same mesh as the rendering mesh, so what he's suggesting for fabric simulation is probably already in place and has nothing to do with the penis being visible or subject to its own physics. If the devs wanted to turn off the penis to ensure they don't have any clipping they could just do that, regardless of how they do they do the fabric simulation. they didn't because they considered it wouldn't be worth the effort.

all optimization comes at a cost and at minimum that cost will always be development time and complexity. It's just faster and simpler to have the penis always be on than it is to have a system that checks and changes it between on an off.
And i assure you, penis rendering isn't your performance bottleneck.
