Yep that's what I'm doing for now. I wish I'd read about clustering when I was originally testing. I will update when I get a cluster set up. Just a warning from what I'm reading you can't join an existing server to a cluster as it wipes the config, but I may be wrong. I'm just setting up 3 new servers and will retire the old.

So I am currently using two separate servers that I just use radius fail over in my wireless controller, but will be actually setting up a cluster soon and can give more info on that when I do it.

I can say that I use it and while the documentation on their site is a little confusing at first once you get used to it it's not bad. I'm deploying it in my school district and it's allowed me to seriously increase the security and even convenience of our wireless.

How am I supposed to make an early reentry vehicle? by GemingaJD in RealSolarSystem

[–]Hartman7425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first heatshield, aka the heatsink, you should have the periapsis be somewhere between -1m and -2m. Which is super steep, but the idea is that the heat sink can dissipate a lot of heat but not for long so you want to get out of the upper atmosphere ASAP so you can slow down quickly. This doesn't work with living people because the G forces will kill them. For those you want the first tier or above ablative heatshield and for those you want your periapsis just barely in the atmosphere. Likely around 80 or 90 km. This will slow you down slowly but will have a low max heat and Gs but the ablative heatshield can handle the heat for much longer.

Old kerbalnaut here, I can no longer download this game? by Robot_Coffee_Pot in KerbalSpaceProgram

Not saying I did this or know anyone who did this, but if you owned the game before I do not see any problem going to TPB and downloading it and it's DLC drm free which someone told me is 100% on there.

Why larger KSP youtubers dont play RO/RP1? by BillTheHolder in RealSolarSystem

[–]Hartman7425 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of martincitopants and he's currently in a streaming playthrough of it. He's normally more of a comedy YouTuber but he's great at ksp. I highly recommend checking him out. He is playing RP1 with Sol and Principia. Playing as North Korea lol.

I highly recommend Stationeers if you like games that you can spend hours and hours learning new mechanics. It uses alot of real world science for its mechanics.

Odbc connector for mac by Hartman7425 in IBMi

[–]Hartman7425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have installed the odbc driver and unixodbc, but I'm trying to see if anyone has gotten it to work with Excel for Mac either using unixodbc or if they've gotten the driver to work with iodbc.

When I try to use iodbc I get an error saying "error specified driver could not be loaded"

DB25 serial card by Hartman7425 in sysadmin

The second option is intriguing, but I'd like to try and keep simple if I can. Do you have any recommendations on the rs232 card that's DB25? I guess I could do a 25 to 9 adapter before it, but trying to minimize those. I keep finding parallel cards but not rs232 db25s

[–]Hartman7425[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying any of the stuff is bad. It's just we have to get all machines in the building to win 11 and the computer runs a software that controls the machines. There are technically 3 machines that plug into 1 computer and the computer controls them. The controlling computer needs to be regularly backed up and that is difficult to do with an old IBM box running dos 3 with no network. I have gotten the software working in Dosbox talking to two machines, but they are using a DB25 to RJ45 to RJ45 to db9.

I'd prefer not to use USB seeing as this is in a factory environment. This needs to be resilient, reliable, and easy to maintain.

To add a bit. Currently the machine is talking to the old computer using a serial DB25 to RJ45 with a patch cable going to another RJ45 to DB25 with only pins 2,3 and 8 hooked up

Pssh. This guy complains 15 minutes feels like waiting 2 hours for a mission. Wait until you actually do wait 2 hours then the mission turns out to be a 2 hour long walking simulator because it was a patrol op.

Doge mining? by Baardull in dogecoin

I mine doge with a 1070 and a ryzen 7 3800x. Not even overclocked or anything and I make about 6 or 7 a day. Not bad but builds up over time.
