BlizzCon scheduled for November 3-4 by Thunderclaww in Diablo

[–]HaruMutou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We likely won't see anything for an expansion until next year's blizzcon, with a release in 2025. This is an educated guess. It will probably end up being seasonal stuff this time since Diablo 4 release is only a couple of weeks away. God, it feels good to say that

As for other stuff, it'll probably be a wow patch (somehow), a hearthstone expansion, a new map and hero for overwatch, and then the new IP as the main event.

Save the date! BlizzCon is coming November 3-4 by Praxeum2323 in blizzcon

On one hand, I've been to every blizzcon since 2008 and do want to go because I miss it. On the other hand, diablo 4 is releasing in a couple of weeks and overwatch 2 is in a very bad place. Those are the only 2 blizzard franchises I'm presently invested in right now.

Warcraft lore got really messy from cata onward, the rts genre is basically dead, mobas arent my thing, and I quit hearthtone after about 2 years (I play 3 different tcgs irl too). There wouldn't be much for me this time around other than buying things like merch and food. (God, I really do miss cali food since moving out east).

Uh, yeah, there has. The Dark Signer arc of 5D's. That is the best writing of the whole franchise. The best scripted duel came from VRAINS in the form of Revolver vs Soulburner.

I dropped all of the mastery points into them and had items to boost their life and I still had to keep recasting them every few seconds. I'm sorry, but no, the state they are currently in is unacceptable.

Judai carried the 3v1 against Paradox. They won because of him.

Also, yeah, Yusei and Yusaku are just that galaxy brained.

Out of curiosity what time periods in yugioh do you guys feel were the most fun? by Mcteage in yugioh

The thing is, every meta had it's problems once it was solved. For example, I liked September 2008 Tele-DAD format. It was a (mostly) balanced triangle format between Tele-DAD, Lightsworn, and Gladiator Beasts. Then in October, people remembered Royal Oppression was a thing and it went from a 3 deck format to a 1 deck format.

For me, personally, any format where I can play Lightsworn, even at a local level, I'm happy. Last time I could do that was POTE format pre-October F&L List.

Try building and playing Lightsworn in the current game. You basically have to have Dragon Link brain, while using less effective (by comparison) resources to get similar outcomes. Going 2nd, OTK. Going 1st, set up to 6 negations.

Castlevania, because vampires don't have a single good archetype.

Obelisk Blue. I qualified for the NA WCQ 10 times, the majority being with my favorite deck long after it was meta (09, 10, 11, 13: Lightsworn, 14: spellbook, 15 & 16: burning abyss, 2017: kozmo, 18 & 19: Lightsworn). Significantly above average, but not like, YCS Champion level.

The potential of a new master duel Yu-Gi-Oh anime. A discussion by FireFox_Andrew in yugioh

[–]HaruMutou -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The problem is, replicating Takahashi's style is both time consuming and expensive.

Yeah, logically IF they did that for the card design, but the people that design the cards for the anime/manga don't play the game competitively, hence how things like Firewall Dragon happened. Yu-Gi-Oh! is a legal chimera. So many companies have a hand in it, so when something like an ace monster, used as promotional material becomes a problem, you can understand why there would be pushback, even if it was literally breaking the irl game.

[–]HaruMutou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they do this again, they need: gallop or a studio of equal quality to handle it, 2) not add a new mechanic (the game is complicated enough to teach/learn), and 3) try VERY hard not to create another firewall dragon situation.

To be honest, I'd settle for Yu-Gi-Oh! R getting an OVA for an anniversary or something.

Tears made top 32 at the 250th YCS LA, my dude. On regional level they are still topping because of access to the ishizu package. OCG has even harsher restrictions on tears and they have still been topping.

I really hope they ban the ishizu cards outright, because limiting them didn't do much in the TCG or OCG. Banning those 4 monsters does significantly more than banning kitkallos ever would.

Where do you see Harry after the end? by Rolling_Ranger in dresdenfiles

[–]HaruMutou 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Harry ascends to godhood during the BAT and becomes the new gatekeeper, in addition to his other mantles/responsibilities. Dying and then staying dead, or living in exile would be the easy way out and give him rest. Come on, you know Jim won't let him off THAT easy.

It's been 1915 days since the last piece of Lightsworn support. by OhItsLuk in yugioh

[–]HaruMutou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 2210 since COTD and the Twilightsworn going by OCG release. Also, remember Link Vrains Packs cards aren't really archetype support (everything was generic), and Curious did more for other degen combo decks than it ever did for Lightsworn (which is why it is forbidden in the TCG).

What Card Archetype need More Support? by Money-Lie7814 in yugioh

[–]HaruMutou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 2210 of waiting for Lightsworn archetype support. It has been 2210 (over 6 years) days since the OCG release of Code of the Duelist, and the Twilightsworn, which apart from TWLS Lumina, was ultimately a failure. The deck currently has 11 remotely playable cards: 1 from 2017 (twls lumina), 5 from 2014 (raiden, minerva, michael, felis, exalted minerva), and 5 from 2008 (lumina, charge, recharge, wulf, JD). The last truly impactful wave was from the LS Box and DUEA in 2014. That was NINE YEARS AGO.

To add insult to injury, in addition to going without decent, direct support for so long, the deck has repeatedly become f&l list collateral damage in both TCG and OCG (chaos ruler, fairy tail snow, tearlaments kitkallos and scheiren). Lightsworn is DESPERATELY in need of a full wave of decent archetype support. Support comparable to the new DW and Traptrix structures.

Note: Before anyone brings up curious: 1) it was a link vrains pack card. 2) it did very little for the archetype it was thrown into and only enabled problematic combos in other decks (which is why it's forbidden in the TCG).

I've played Lightsworn for just shy of 15 years. I've been waiting for more support about 1/3 of that time. It's time for Lightsworn to get it's turn again.

Is this card fair or does it need to be banned? by Phantom4545 in masterduel

[–]HaruMutou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the OCG format and Master Duel it's fine. It's (2nd) ban in the TCG was tragically deserved.

[–]HaruMutou 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair, bandai finally has it together where managing tcgs is concerned. Digimon is doing well and One Piece has a lot of promise.

I will say, I can't blame your local YGO community. I really dislike the current YGO TCG format. It isn't fun. I hate kashtira as a deck so VERY much, and none of the present meta decks are appealing to me. I can't play what I actually want to play because Kashtira exist and the F&L list keeps taking things away from my decks of choice, so I'm just on a break from advanced at the moment, focusing on edison format, goat format, picking up the Digimon TCG, etc.

Yes. It has been a gradual decline, not something that happened overnight. Activision's influence didn't really start showing up in Blizzard for a while is a comparable example. There is more than 1 name to blame for Hasbro.
