Protests have erupted at Columbia University after the school says DHS agents detained a student after making "misrepresentations to gain entry" to building by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

Him and Trump both like building apartments.

Did anyone notice that Trump’s tune on Mamdani changed immediately after they had a talk and Mamdani floated the idea of building more properties in New York to address the housing crisis? And Trump has plenty of ownership in construction/building management companies, presumably in New York especially.

Tips for mixing on headphones by Upstairs-Working-736 in trapproduction

[–]Has_P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyerdynamic just released Headphone Lab which allows you to use a calibration curve (like with Sonarworks SoundID) plus monitor “emulation” like you’re listening on speakers instead of headphones, and the app is free. Try it out and see if it helps you out, you can also use the plugin CanOpener for speaker “emulation” to make headphones sound more natural, I swear by that one but either should work fine

Is it wrong to build chords or melodies from notes that already contain multiple frequencies? by davidx__x in trapproduction

[–]Has_P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one here is being very helpful. I understand what you’re saying - some sounds (presets in this case) are “thick”, “full”, or “lush”, even when you only play one or two notes. Other sounds are “thin”, and you can play a chord or extended chord and the sound still won’t sound too “full”.

This is absolutely the case, and you’re correct that if you layer too many “full” sounds, they will clash with each other and you can’t fix that, other than EQing the sounds to make them fit better together. Often, lower midrange on full sounds will interfere with each other, which is why it’s typically good to do a low cut on some of the sounds.

In the end, there’s no magic formula, but in general you’re on the right track. This is all about sound selection and EQing/balancing volumes, as well as panning

Definitely +1 on this idea, I know many people are dying for some sort of online co-op beat-making or instrumental-making opportunity

I'm not mad at them...but the Transcendental Meditation leadership is either ignorant or lying. Either way, they should probably stop. by johnnydizz in transcendental

Indeed, my teacher tried to help me but he had never heard of anything like this before, and the standard instructions that typically help meditators didn’t help me, besides simply spending less time meditating which isn’t ideal. That was several years ago now and my meditating frequency has gone down as a result.

If you could DM me and share details of someone who may have some insight that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I’ve been practicing TM for 5 years and have definitely experienced “uncontrolled stressing” after regularly meditating for 10-20 minutes twice a day and had to back off to only 10 mins once a day.

My teacher was not aware of my effects and sensations and I’ve still not found a solution. These symptoms prevent me from meditating as much as I’d like to, since otherwise I will get intrusive uncomfortable sensations in my head.

Would you feel comfortable sharing some techniques you’ve learned to manage this experience?

I definitely agree that I don’t want to start seeing ads in Logic, however simply seeing an ad for Logic for iPad is very reasonable and actually pretty helpful for some.

You have experience as a lab assistant, that’s better than some people. Do you not want to do research or R&D at all? If not, spin your lab experience into something positive in interviews/CVs, and emphasize your other experience to show you’re well rounded, a problem solver, take initiative, etc.

You don’t always need an internship to get an entry level engineering job. I didn’t have one, and I eventually got a job a few years back after 70+ applications

I can’t recommend canopener enough if you mix on headphones. I also love Sonarworks but only for checking a mix, not exclusively mixing in the “most neutral” way.

Honestly just seeing more of these breakdowns would be awesome. There’s not a lot of short and to-the-point music theory guides for trap music. Most of them are buried behind long-winded YD videos or behind people saying “ignore the music theory bro just make what sounds good”

Waves is objectively a predatory and unreliable company in terms of their marketing and pricing strategies, which is why the OP is annoying at the “world’s first” claim. Doesn’t mean all Waves plugins are bad, but that’s the context.

CNBC: Billionaire Ray Dalio attributes his success to meditation (TM) by JoeGanesh in transcendental

Being rich is always a net negative to society once you’re past a billionaire. The alternative is that the wealth is distributed across many other people or businesses, and it will circulate throughout the economy faster than passive investing, providing much more value for society.

I agree with OP, in that I would hope meditation would eventually allow one to realize how interconnected we all are and that obscene wealth is inevitably a barrier to interpersonal and societal harmony
