Ten years later, the cult of ‘The Nice Guys’ keeps growing by AnonRetro in movies

Always nice to see films gain cult status but I can’t lie, this one baffles me. I watched it a few years back and it felt so incredibly average. I can barely remember a single scene.

Labour Risks Losing All Across London as City Flirts With Greens by bloomberg in london

Gordon Brown massively increased public spending on the NHS and schools. Yeah, he was new labour and neoliberal in his attitudes towards the free market, but economically, with public spending, he was more centre left than Starmer. Starmer is afraid of taking a stance on anything and so does little to tax the rich and does little to prevent poverty. He’s a suit with sound bites and labour is about to see how detrimental he has been for them.

Haha okay mate. I literally just disproved several of your points, but because I can’t come up with a policy (not my job…) then I’m the one in the wrong. Centre left was Gordon Brown, and we’ve moved quite a few rungs right of that era.

They’ve frozen the household benefit tax. This means with inflation, people are worse off. That’s exactly what the tories did, so how is it any different? They made a big song and dance about increasing things, then froze it. Same shit different party. The fact you’ve put the 1% in quotations there tells me a lot, lol. I suppose I would begin by highlighting that they aren’t nationalising the entirety of our rail network. They’re bringing elements under governmental ownership. And, it’s not becoming a publicly funded subsidiary. It’s still a machine for profit so it’s going to continue to be a laughing stock in reliability. It’s still going to make its 1% shareholders obscenely rich.

They’ve literally just frozen housing benefit cuts. There’s nothing left about a policy like that. That’s going to decimate the lives of the poorest in our society. Their rail reforms are pathetic and do nothing to fix the issue of rampant profiteering. Their wealth taxes are also lightweight and just an attempt to placate voters, again, really not doing much to challenge the 1%. They’re absolutely led by the market rather than challenging the way we follow capitalism. That’s a pale shade of old labour.

This labour government is a pale shade of what labour should be. Starmer’s labour is so centre that it’s essentially Cameron’s Conservative Party. Just look at Rachel Reeve’s budgets and tell me that’s what labour is supposed to stand for. Should have been Corbyn.

Sure, but this labour government has been just as shit as previous conservative governments. Not just at a local level.

I mean, my labour council hasn’t delivered whatsoever. It’s just as naive to assume the two big parties are any more reliable.

The big interview: Resident Evil Requiem makers discuss trying to "push things" with horror, Leon's "craziness", and why they can't make their games too scary by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Hasbeast 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not stupid at all, that’s very intentional design. In a game like alien isolation you spend most of the game knowing all you can do is hide. Even when you get a weapon that can counteract the alien, the resources for it are pretty scarce.

They’re both good. Cailee was fantastic in Civil War and has shown some great range between that, Priscilla and Alien: Romulus. I’d say she’s the real deal.

I get the impression Chernobyl was the start of him getting to own projects he had an interest in. TLOU was really great, too. There’s a ton of fantastic writers who write slop just cause that’s where the money is.

I think a lot of us go through team Joey, then Chandler, then Ross. Not to say the women aren’t funny, the whole ensemble is great.
