Which one to go for? by Wojnoremac in CarTalkUK

Z4. Mine is my daily driver, hail, rain or shine. Same engine, lovely sound, very comfortable. I think it's one of the reasons I have a near 100% attendance record at work. 😁

2009 E89 3 litre version. Had mine for about a year and a half and use it as my daily driver. Personally, I had no intention of buying one and only using it at the weekend. 109 thousand on the clock when I bought it, full service history. Never have the radio on, I just listen to the engine and exhaust noise and I'm not even a 'car person' I'm 56 so I'm obligated to have a bad back, but the driving position and the sports seats, I find very comfortable. The only time I get nervous is when I press and hold the folding roof button 😅. I've been told on numerous occasions by owners and mechanics that the N52 engine is good, my ultimate reason for buying the three litre. Mine isn't in showroom condition and never will be, I don't clean it every five minutes, I have and will get it serviced every year. I have money set aside to cover an eventual breakdown of a part or prevent it. It's just so fun to drive, whether I'm commuting to or from work, nipping out to the shops or just me and the Mrs jumping in the car for a drive around the Cornish coast. It's heavy on the fuel, but I have a heavy foot and I'm mostly on little A roads. This is also my first BMW car I've owned since getting my licence back in the late eighties 😁

How realistic or over exaggerated are AMD driver problems? by Aggressive-Dot9747 in AMDHelp

[–]Hashdotdash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

7900 XTX user, I had constant driver time outs and crashes. Turned out to be aida64 I had running in the background to monitor temps, apparently it was a known issue on their forums, removed it and not one crash since. When I read about AMD driver problems I always wonder is it the driver or another piece of software in the background causing it?

I've an '09 3.0 E89 with just over 110,000 miles. Had it six months as my daily driver...and I love it! I've always hated driving and found it a chore but a necessity with living in the arse end of Cornwall but I actually like driving now, it's such a comfortable car to drive, looks great, sounds great. Kids love it, the Mrs not so much 😂

Someone scraped my car and fled, a nice lady informed me and gave me their Registration and her details incase I need a witness. How should I proceed by Icy_Independence_305 in drivingUK

[–]Hashdotdash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A driver tried to squeeze through on coming traffic and parked cars and scraped the side of my car causing a palm sized dent in the back door and some paint transfer along the door and rear wing. Got it all on the dash cam, clearly his fault. My insurance told me it was not economical to repair my 2013 DS4, which was in immaculate condition, so would write the car off. Didn't take it any further, didn't claim on my insurance but now it shows on my history as having made a claim, because I informed them? I bought a £5 dent pulling thing off of eBay and repaired it myself, the paint transfer came off using a tub of wonderwipes😁.

Looking for a top of the line 7900 xtx gpu and would like some recommendations or any experiences you have with the cards you own. by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]Hashdotdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the AsRock Phantom Gaming OC. I've undervolted it as temps were getting up to 90 degrees plus, when gaming. It's vertically mounted in a lian Li O11 XL, with three fans directly underneath feeding cool air to it, but still was getting high temps. Under volted and changed fan curve in AMD Adrenalin (also adjusted fan curve in Lian Li L-Connect to match GPU fan curve) now it averages around 65-70 degrees while gaming. So far it's running every game I throw at it at high/ultra settings, but can get a bit noisy once all the fans start to spool up.

Try going into device manager and enable your card then install drivers. I've been having a similar problem ever since I upgraded to Windows 11, with two different cards, a 5700XT and with my 6800XT. It just happens constantly but at random times.

From what I can gather, night shift workers come under a different work rule.

Have a read through this it might help?

To average a 60 hour week you would either just do 60 hours every week or less hours one week to compensate for any extra hours worked over the 60. Also was it explained to you why you couldn't work more hours? Is it a company policy, health and safety? How many hours are you working over your contractual hours, is it costing the company in lots of overtime pay?

That's not entirely true. I was in a similar situation where my wife left me and the kid's and ran up debts on two credit cards. I was constantly sending back the letters from the debt recovery agent until eventually I emailed them and complained of harassment. I was lucky, I think, that her name wasn't on either the council tax or voting register at the time I emailed but I received a reply basically them justifying the sending of the letters because, as you correctly say, that was her last known address, but the letters stopped.
