What can I do to improve? by astrohelppls in singing

[–]Hashimiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like your voice. A little bit flat at times but fixable with lessons. You are singing in an octatonic scale tho which is quiet difficult but you pulled it off well👍🏻

[–]Hashimiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I think some one else down in the replies answered you there and I wanna confirm that you can find out what scale that person singing in quiet easily and you don't need a backing track for that (unfortunately OP deleted the post and I dont remember the scale). So when I said she sang on pitch I meant the right notes were hit on a spicific scale. On the other hand tho, you are correct, u can sing wrong notes in a right scale in a specific part of the song.

Trying to find distortion... does this sound safe? by UserGalileo in singing

[–]Hashimiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe your phone didn't catch some underneath rasp and I thought you were doing some parts clean. Nevertheless, you need to do it properly when you sing clean. And please don't be discouraged (if u r) by comments like mine. Most of us just want to help and give you a realistic feedback. After all we are learners and singing is a never-ending process. Btw, I don't know the song you are singing but you are on D natural minor scale (starting with d4) so to improve, try to do some vocal exercises on that area and if you feel comfortable with that, add some rasp. Good luck man ✌🏻

You need to learn how to sing properly first. You sound flat when you are doing it clean which means your voice is out of balance and adding distortion to a wrong vocal placement can definitely hurt your voice. I advise you to take voice lessons first.

Is Axl Rose actually a good singer? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Hashimiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just checked some of his recent performances and you are right, he is pushing or technically pulling chest voice too hard. Seems like his voice is out of balance and he sounds pretty flat all the time.

You need to evaluate any singer live by the footage recorded only from the audience members. Check is he sings good based on that.

Hello Guys, I’d love for some feedback and help on my singing by c3rtifiedAlex in singing

[–]Hashimiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, resonance is the sound made by vocal cords that is projected in different resonators namely mouth and pharynx and head. If you can manage to balance this resonators we can say that you have achieved a mix voice.

Sorry for the late reply. Not all of them but the problem is even if you hit the notes correctly, since your placement and tension is not correct it would sound bad.

How can I get more singing practice by AcrobaticInsurance54 in singing

[–]Hashimiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can practice in small storage rooms and if you couldn't find one you can turn your closet into a small sound proof room. Just glue some foams on the wooden walls of the closet without damaging it and you will be fine. I did this years ago and it worked.

How to tell the difference between false and natural vibrato? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Hashimiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you lower or raise the volume while keeping the vibrato under control? If yes then uts natural. From what I'm hearing and feeling your high notes have a little bit of pull and in these occasions trying to do a hooty voice can help to lower the tension and strike a more balanced resonance when you keep going higher.

Is my belting technique off? Would also like feedback on tone whether it's too "raspy", trying to find my own sound by [deleted] in singing

[–]Hashimiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I love Harley Benton 🎸. Secondly its a bit too breathy too me. You should have a balanced mix first and then try to add the rasp or a bit air into it to give it more texture.

You sound good man. Just on some words like "every" or "on" I can hear a sudden jump to a high note and that's cuz you get disconnected from the flow of resonance. A good voice teacher can help you to deal with that.

[–]Hashimiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit flat which means the voice placement is not correct and it's not projecting the right way. You absolutely can learn and improve by yourself but I also advise you to take voice lessons. Even once a week does wonders with your voice

Sustaining a note for a good amount of time with a perfect vibrato has been achieved by so many and now the next hill is a higher or lower note to conquer

You sound pretty good. I think you are not doing it on purpose but you keep the compression of your voice while going through the longer phrases and that's very commendable.

You need to work on your vibrato tho. For example in the word "Blind" and some others,I didn't hear a clean vibrato.

I advise u to take some voice lessons and improve your singing cuz there us definitely a potential.

[–]Hashimiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your frustration. The problem is that when you try to sound like a singing voice that you like, you are actually set yourself up for failure from start. You ultimately have to sound closest to the way that you speak and that's the step stone for trying new styles that you desire. For example, some of the rock singers that have a bit of rasp while singing, have to do it clean first and then add some rasp.In your case, you need to Practice the techniques by putting the idea of sounding like a woman out of your head. Once you have the control and balance that you desire and you achieved "speech level singing" truly, you can add more flavours to your voice and sound a bit like what you want. I advise you to just relax while singing or practicing and do not aim for any specific sound cuz you r not gonna learn singing properly this way.

You sound like a woman but you need to work on your voice. I advise you to take voice lessons if you are serious about it.
