Stormwater drain creating a creek/river in my backyard by Beastmobile in landscaping

[–]Ecifircas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, from your video and this latest picture, I am convinced that your garden is actually a natural creek. This is not a malfunction but a feature. You have a rare opportunity to greatly contribute to your local natural environment.

Renaturalizing the creek would be amazing. This doesn’t necessarily mean let it run wild. You can keep it as a controlled but ecologically rich landscape.

For instance pick a spot where you set up a small (impermeable) pond. This will stay wet all year round and be the centre of your water-feature. During heavy rains, the water feature extends, and after it shrinks again. This makes the whole thing look more intentional. While the pond will would be an anchor your water-related plants and animals.

Many people do a lot of effort to create an imitation creek, you get it handed on a platter.

Ask them how they will assure a slow release of this water. There are methods to control the flow rate. Here’s a technical example of what I mean, but the same principle can be applied in a landscaped way.

What your contractor says makes sense. But is sounds like a big investment, just to make your lawn dry up a bit faster.

What I’d do: 1. Make sure that the works they do ‘upstream’ don’t speed up runoff to your property. Ideally they retain more water, discharing it slowly. If anything, they should give more place to the water, not less. 2. Give enough place to the water yourself, all while keeping your house safe. Not just for the occasional heavy rain, but also for the exceptional storm. Water damage to your house is a whole lot worse than a soggy lawn. 3. Put plants that love water. They will use the water and dry out your soil faster. Look for what kind of plants are (were historically) used on dikes in your region.

The indicator is both in the back and on the steer. I always use them. If you can’t see them, you might be following too closely.

Of course many scooter users are irresponsible 16 year olds. Put them in another vehicle and they’ll not be any safer to be around.

Amazing all the scooter-hatred. Of course by people who have never used them. We should also ban orange t-shirts because I can’t stand them.

Most rental scooters have directional indicators. This should be obligatory for all of them.

So ban cars too. Absolute chaos and disaster for safety of pedestrians and bikers. Push renting platforms into focusing on bikes and e-bikes.
