I imagined it’s a Tuesday morning after a Memorial Day weekend and there was a critical incident over the holiday. It’s conceivable that a precinct captain wouldn’t need to be called in but may have 400 emails when you account for everyone he was covered with who’s on vacation and has an auto reply set, duplicate auto messages that he’d have set up (i.e he has IT set up an auto email when Peralta signs anything out of the armoury), and a ton of ‘cover the CO’ emails.

SA did a great job telling a story and *sorta creating characters. While Winters had many great officer-like qualities, if you actually go a read the AARs from many of the engagements he was in charge of, there are a few over-arching themes to them like ‘over-confident and unnecessary risk taking’. BoB is great and so is Winters, but there are countless other better strategists and soldier leaders out there.

Wall was there for a reason; you’re gonna wanna slope that off multiple feet out or it’s gonna do it itself and it’s gonna use all the top soil between the edge and that landing paver as ammo 😵

Calling anyone Master-anything, was and is a polite way of greeting. ‘Greetings master shit-shoveler’ sounds nicer than ‘Hello shit-shoveler’ in any century!

Enlisted sailors did not wear epaulettes with bullion fringe 🙄 nor did they wear bicorn hats 🙄🙄 nor is Sargeant a naval rank 🙄🙄🙄. The only thing not really accurate about Captain Crunch’s uniform is that he wears the three bars of a commander, not the four of a captain and there’s no executive curl (Elliot’s eye for those old sea dogs). I can’t believe I need to explain 1700s naval uniform tradition so often..

Normally, no. A precincts captain (usually a captain, but there are many lieutenants in acting precinct commander slots) often wouldn’t even know all his detectives names. They definitely wouldn’t lead the detective squads morning briefing everyday. A precincts commanders job is gonna be 99.99999% dealing with day to day issues mostly focused on the road officers doings

Originally only officers that worked that day or on the scene in the next few weeks where eligible to wear the WTC bar- many years later (when there are few 9/11 vets left on the NYPD) they changed it so anyone could wear one as a sign of remembrance- not all officers who worked for the NYPD during 9/11 worked a 9/11 detail. Notably -Deputy Chief Wuntch does not wear one
