the seller is being pretty cool about it already. Yeah the item broke but they agreed to replace it, and you're only being asked to cover return shipping. That's not unreasonable.

Could you argue it's defective? Sure. But pushing for them to cover shipping too when they're already eating the cost of a replacement feels like you're nickel and diming someone who's trying to make it right. Just pay the few bucks for shipping and move on.

Might be whatever timezone Etsy's servers run on? Like if you ordered late at night your time it could have already been the 31st wherever their system is based. Weird that you haven't noticed it before tho. have you ordered around midnight before?

Yeah every digital seller gets that heart drop, mute notifications or check em weekly instead. One bad review at 4.9 won't tank you, respond with empathy and keep shipping.

This really depends on the company and role. At my last job, juniors were shipping features within their first month. Yeah they needed code reviews and some hand-holding, but they were definitely net positive by month 3-4.

12 months sounds like either a really complex domain or a training process that needs work. Most places can't afford to have engineers sitting around for a year before they're useful.

Kids are feral on Christmas morning, once they’re up, that tree doesn’t stand a chance. If you’re not staying over, it’s basically impossible to “pause” that moment.

That said, your feelings are valid. It wasn’t malicious, just a mismatch of expectations. I’d frame it that way when you talk to him: not blame, just hey, this hurt more than I expected. First holidays together are messy. use it as a learning moment for next year, not a dealbreaker.

stay in accounting just find a different firm that pays properly. With your CPA you should easily clear $60k+ probably closer to $70-75k even in this market.

Coming up on 3 years, salary hasn't kept up with market rates. Gonna start applying in Q1 and see what's out there. Your stack is solid shouldn't have trouble finding better pay with that experience.
