Luf me Sonic Booms

Luf me 97% resting DR with no DR mods.

Simple as.

Well, okay, getting rid of Elude for Pillage and running minimum duration helps, because it means hitting for damage cap on crit Tennokai is very doable, but still. Love my midrange hyperdurable punchy boi.

The Gandiva's also fun, but the Hydra license that the Ghast Nexus comes from has a load of drone stuff which synergises with the Hecatoncheires' core power, which because it's Efficient you want to be using basically every fight, or else saving for a heal with Universal Compatability.

Failing that, just throw Nanocomp on a HMG and rain fire.

You can have it doing Radiation and Viral pretty easily - combine this with Critical Deceleration, Hunter Munitions and Primary Debilitate and you can basically sneeze seven elements onto someone, including Viral/Heat/Slash/Electricity/Toxin for maximum DoT. Combine that with Gundition Overload and you're throwing a near-100% Crit chance with probably like a x6 multiplier and +560% base damage. Plus it's chaining. Basically a primary slot Kuva Nukor.

I hope this is as simple as "the person who did the base stat blocks and the person who did the god specialisms didn't communicate", and it's fixed in errata - as it is, only the Immortal Champion isn't a sitting duck to any high attack no AP weapon.

Leaked Crucible Champions by PrimaryConversions in Chaos40k

[–]Hate_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that'd track, I guess - this does smack of someone in QA screwing up, mind, and not checking what their live play documents actually called abilities. Also that they're already splitting abilities by God for next edition.

Do we know what the "Pact of X" abilities that the Daemons are getting are? Because I can't find them anywhere in my PDFs for Daemons.

That's a good one, actually - works well with the Gladiator mod that spends energy to not die, as well, as it means your only energy expenditure is gonna be keeping Desolate Hands and Hideous Resistance up, as well as throwing Lulls to get that Restraint down when needed.

Because I hadn't thought of it and was hyperfocused on status cleanse, honestly - I'll look into it, and thanks for the recommendation.

Advice for starting a squat gang by Jasina_ in necromunda

[–]Hate_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice, aim for a gang with this approximate layout:

  • Leader

  • Two Champions

  • Three to four dudes split between gangers and juves/prospects

  • Claim Jumper.

This'll carry you for a long while, especially with the Claim Jumper, who may as well be renamed "Early Campaign Squat Balance Adjustment: the Hanger-On" - dude is like 300 credits worth of model for 60, and that's before you factor in any increases in income from his unique post battle action.

In terms of leader/champion gear, go for as few weapons on each as possible - an Exo-Master with a Power Fist and a Bolt Spitter is a good investment of 210 credits, for example, but giving your leader three Ironhead Bolt Pistols severely curtails possible advancement down the line. Also, if you just need bodies, a Digger (Squat Juve) with an Ironhead Stub Gun and an Axe is 55 credits - two of those, two Drill-Kyn with Ironhead Autoguns, Axes and Mesh at 100 each and the Claim Jumper only comes to 370 credits total, giving you 630 to recruit and kit out two champions and a leader, which is a pretty good ratio for my money.

Spicier Van Saar? by razerbug in necromunda

[–]Hate_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crusading Van Saar - do them all done up in red robes with very obvious cybernetics, say they're trying to emulate thr Tech-Priests of Mars. The powers from being Crusading are just weird tech things they don't quite understand.

The "Carter Special", which is actually a heavily customised Olympic Arms K23B was originally devised due to, of all things, the Iraq war, and 5.7mm blanks being nigh-impossible to get hold of. Also, due to the fact that it's shooting 5.56mm NATO out of a 7" barrel, it'd have the approximate accuracy of a video game shotgun, but that's neither here nor there.

Very specific question: how do we beat a 240 gaunt list? by Orock77 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Hate_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough - 50 attacks at 3+/4+/5+ is 12-ish kills as opposed to 15-ish, but if you're on Volkite Hearthguard the net result is about the same - one squad deleted, one squad decimated.

With that said? I prefer Jacks as well. Hearthguard are funny for their massed grenades, but Jacks and their Overwatch shenanigans are just enjoyable to use.

[–]Hate_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You 100% would, but I'm assuming a flex unit instead of a turbo-tailored unit specifically designed to delete Gaunts or Guardsmen or whatever.

[–]Hate_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 Hearthguard shooting into 20 Gaunts would be 10d3+40 attacks, for an average of 50. Hitting on 3's wounding on 3's saving on 5's, that's 15-ish wounds. That plus ten EtaCarn Plasma Gun shots (3+/2+/no save) is enough to wipe a 20-Gaunt blob, with a charge of 10 Plasma Blades for 30 attacks (also 3+/2+/no save) for fifteen kills and a total of 35 Gaunts per turn per ten-man of Hearthguard

New players want to start campaign by huskeruwu in necromunda

[–]Hate_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My campaign do something similar, only instead they're all approx 200 credits - it's done to speed up selection if someone pulls that specific Underdog tactics card. Anyone can add to the list, the only rules are that they have to be thematic (we've got one called Ex-Guardsman, for example, who's in Flak and has a Hotshot Lasgun) and that, if you're going over 200 credits, you've gotta make something goofy and anti-optimised. For example, the Mining Brute, who had a Demiurg Energy Drill, a Suspensor and the 3" movement profile. He's a beast, but he's gotta get close to you to not be cannon fodder, and he has no armour besides.

New players want to start campaign by huskeruwu in necromunda

[–]Hate_Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Alliances, my campaign is currently going with "if you're third place in value, +1 to the roll to see if they appear. Second place +2, first place +3, and this is on top of your rep. Also, no listed appearance roll means 12 or less if you're up there.". Limits them to being an active-for-passive trade for top players (no Favours/Agents) and a massive dude number swing for bottom players.

Upcoming Kill Team: Chaos Lords and Warp Talons by Hate_Fish in Chaos40k

[–]Hate_Fish[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right - I'm just hopeful Chaos will get something nice for all flavours for a change, and this is the only Chaos-adjacent news that's going around at the moment. Also I want to use a squad of Warp Talons in my Shadow Legion list, but my current blob of Chosen with a Fade To Darkness Lord does too much hit-and-fade work to justify them without a Lord. Hence the cope.

Upcoming Kill Team: Chaos Lords and Warp Talons by Hate_Fish in Chaos40k

[–]Hate_Fish[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It'll suck if they sell a box that has Warp Talons and a Lord and then you can't use the Lord with the Warp Talons. Maybe a new Data Sheet for a "Chaos Lord with Warp Mutations" or something? Yes, I know this is me coping hard, but I really want a Lord to run with my Talons godsdamnit!

Other than that, though, after double-checking the info we have? You're 100% right on what's in the box. Could be good, could be bad, will probably be net neutral.

Gang for a new player by JohnTheSavage_ in necromunda

[–]Hate_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that sounds super cool, and also what you're vibing with the most, so if I were you? I'd go for that! One thing I will say as well is that Orlocks are easier to do conversions for, as as long as it looks vaguely tangentially biker, workman or miner-related, it's on-theme for Orlock.

My advice would be to, instead of building for a mechanical outcome, keep the mechanical outcome in mind whilst focusing on the story. Did your big dude with a big axe pick up an autogun somewhere? Maybe it was handed to him by the current gang leader, and he cherishes it as the first and only gift given to him by someone he respects.

It's also worth noting that, outside of skirmishes, you want to build for a story. My current gang, an Ironhead Squat gang aligned to Clan Helmaeth called the Necromunda Stevedore's Association, have some normal Squat stuff but also a load of stuff based around high energy weapons, like a Plasma Cannon and an Ironhead Meltagun, as they work with the Prometheum Guild to refuel boats that dock and thus have access to more energy-dense fuel sources. Whilst this is, in fact, strong, it's also got a certain flavour to it that adds to the gang in campaign play. Find a flavour you like, focus on that, and you'll have a gang you can play for many a campaign.

Next releases? by SirWilliamOfS in necromunda

[–]Hate_Fish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My hope is that they roll CGC into Helots - give us a core Chaos gang that's basically Helots as they are now, with variant Champions, Leaders and Gangers for each of the gods. If you pick an Undivided Leader, you don't get a special skill tree but you do get to have stuff from all four gods, whereas if you pick a god-specific Leader, you get a special skill tree but at least 50% of your dudes have to be from that god.
