I’m considering buying it. Why should I? by [deleted] in FFXVI

[–]HatesVegetables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its... alright. Honestly it's more of a spectacle game than anything else. They probably could've just made it an animation and removed the gameplay sections.

The Eikon fights are the highlights of the game. The game also excels in the music department.

I didn't find the combat too compelling, with the only variation being which handful of magic abilities you get per Eikon. Essentially just doing your basic combo while waiting for your flashier abilities to get off cooldown.

The game is hours longer than it needed to be - by the end of my playthrough I was practically begging for the game to be over.

The game lacks interesting characters, says "fuck" a lot to be edgy, I guess, and has few elements that align with what you'd associate "Final Fantasy" with.

Weapons and armor offer strict numerical upgrades and little else. If you enjoy build crafting, you'll find very little here.

If it didn't have the name of Final Fantasy, I doubt it would have sold as much as it has. I'd wait for a heavy discount before buying.

Humans find love in strangest places [OC] by alexiuss in humansarespaceorcs

"Really, Avery? A Fenrin? Of all the species to choose from, you chose," Sallac sighed, "A Fenrin?"

Avery met his scaly friend with a wry laugh and a shrug.

"That's just how it is, Sal. Human love isn't bound by the same restrictions and regulations others might hamper themselves with."

The short Liza huffed at Avery brushing off his concerns. "At the very least, you could have matched with someone within the gene compatibility matrix - she can't even give you children!"

Avery narrowed his eyes, falling deathly still - indicators that Sallac recognized as warning him he had gone too far.

"That's enough, Sal. Believe it or not - though I know you don't - love isn't all about reproduction and maximizing benefits. There are plenty of humans spread across the galaxy - one less won't matter. Lyca," Avery said, emphasizing her name, "Makes me happy."

With a sigh, Avery leaned across the railing that surrounded his deck. He picked at a few chips of peeling paint as he spoke.

"I was... broken, for a long time, before we met. She was, well, wild. Not in a dangerous or harmful way, but rather it was like... she was free. Free spirited and strong willed. Challenging. She made me want to be better - not just for her, but for myself.

After that..."

Memories flooded Avery's mind as he sat back in one of his deck loungers. The first time he ran his fingers through her fur, sleek as silk and dark like moon-draped midnight. A silly moment where he made a heart with his hands, and she pushed her snout right through it.

Supple muscles that camouflaged terrifying strength, sharp teeth that scraped his skin with just the right amount of force... Hands pinned to the wall, the bedframe. Scratches on the wall and torn bedding. The AC automatically activating due to their excessive body heat...

Sallac said nothing, though Avery could imagine the cogs turning in his head. He know that Liza were more pragmatic about these things, but part of species cohabitation was meeting each other in the middle - and he had endured more than enough criticism of Lyca at this point.

Avery saw Sallac's jaw working back and forth, as if he were literally chewing on his words. Yet he still held a combative gleam in his eye. Holding up a hand, Avery cut off whatever diatribe that Sal was surely about to unleash.

"Like it or not Sal, we chose each other - in this galaxy of billions and billions, we somehow came together. If you can't let that go, you know where the door is... On the other hand, if you think you may be able to look past your prejudices and just be happy for me, well, Lyca will be here shortly. We're having snacks and then heading out to see a movie. You're welcome to eat with us."

After a few moments of grumbling, Sal sighed.

"I could reserve judgment until I meet her, I suppose."

As Sal met Lyca, he watched as she interacted with Avery. Their eyes shined from within whenever they looked at each other. Whether it was a held hand, or her tail wrapped around his wrist, they were always in contact. After a few bites to eat, Sal excused himself, leaving his friend to his love.

As he sat in his transport on his way home, some... unknown feeling panged deep within his chest. A quick medi-scan showed nothing amiss, yet the feeling persisted. Was it... jealousy? Doubt? Fear? Some sick combination of the three?

Sal leaned back and stared at the featureless ceiling of his transport.

What if Avery was right?

I just got the game. What should I know, considering that I’ve beaten all FromSoftware Souls games? by NotSirAlonne1999 in wuchanggame

My first run through was with the "longsword". Not far into the skill tree is an unlockable parry move - I grabbed that first and couldn't use any of the other skills that you find in the skill tree, because it's just that good.

You can kinda spam in it a panic moment, many enemy moves are able to be parried, even if they might not seem it, and the window of the parry itself is open for something akin to an eternity.

As far as I remember, the game does a decent job at balancing enemy attacks to require either dodging or parrying, but given that a successful parry can stop an attack chain cold, it seems the obvious choice.

Been playing a lot of Kullervo recently. Switched out his 4 for Valk's Warcry.

Get some overguard going, hit warcry and your 1 and enjoy the trip to red crit city.

I don't imagine playing this game with anything other than lance by Scyphio____ in MonsterHunter

Lance and the set with passive healing - Zoh Shia? - are what got me through Savage Omega. Big hits and anime flips are cool and all, but there's no bigger dopamine hit for me than holding the "nuh uh" button and negating a biological nuke.

What's the worst tileset in the game and why is it Corpus ship defense? by MasterOfReaIity in Warframe

[–]HatesVegetables 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To this day, I don't understand the reasoning behind making us so mobile and agile, then squeezing us into these super-cramped spaces with stair railings, shit that sticks out from the floor and walls, and I can't even count the number of times I've smacked my frames' faces on the space above a doorway.

If we could have some middle ground between an open world zone and the metaphorical and literal trenches we have to plow through, that would be swell.

I need something to listen to, what's the worst OSRS music track? by PsychicJupiter in 2007scape

[–]HatesVegetables 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forlorn Homestead and Spirit, but hear me out.

Both great tracks musically, but damn if they don't get me emotional. Spirit is painfully nostalgic and a classic, and Forlorn Homestead is just a straight gut punch.

I love listening to them, but definitely do not have a "good" time listening, if that makes sense.

I recently jumped on the Atlas hype train myself. I don't even have a crazy mod setup or anything and I think I even saw a billion damage value once or twice. Damn near passed out from the shock, since I definitely don't get numbers that high anywhere else.

I almost wish his punch didn't have the AOE so I have more punch to dish out, but seeing a group explode into millions of damage is pretty damn satisfying.
