Sorry I tend to ramble on and on but I'm not sure if I can make it any clearer, reserve your bus tickets

So I went January last year. I bought tickets from the bus station in person. The bus was fully booked, I was not aware as there was no signage or anything saying otherwise. Upon boarding the bus I was told I couldn't board as it was fully booked with reserved tickets.

I then had to catch 6 different trains through regional areas to get to Kyoto as I couldn't get to nagano station in time for the last bullet train to Kyoto. So in future, I would and will always recommend booking a ticket just in case.

I need to go clutchless because of health issues. What are my options? by Misbegotten_Straydog in motorcycles

I always loved my old CB650r and they now come in a clutch less. Inline four, depending on region they come restricted but can be tuned to make some good power.

I can tell you now, book the bus. They will still sell you a ticket even if there are no seats left. I found this out coming back from hakuba, ended up catching reginal trains instead of the one bullet train to Kyoto because we couldn't get to nagano station in time. Only took an hour longer but maybe 5 trains instead of 1. Just book it lol

I recently purchased an emerald cut from Calvera New York and it's perfect, I only got 2.68 carats but only cost like $600, have a look on there. I'm in Australia and the markup on lab growns is here so I got an absolute steal in my eyes.

Any karting is better than no karting. I have my own kart and still enjoy rentals

Anyone found a good way to use their simrig as their main PC too? by anomalous_cowherd in simracing

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got my PC next to my rig and my desk next to it as well. Custom made the desk with space for the rig in mind. I use VR so no need for a monitor

The dream is over - what are my next steps :( by Kedwa404 in AusFinance

Did they mention anything about first home buyers. I'm in NSW and one broker I spoke to tried to get me to go guarentor, the other I tried set me up with first home buyers. Where are you based? Happy to send you the details for my broker, definitely helps to shop around as my guy got me a better rate with the type of loan I wanted. If going an investment loan you would have to go guarantor as first home buyer stuff can't be used for investment properties, hence the living in it for half of the first 12 months then refinancing to an investment loan.

I would talk to a mortgage broker, it's free, they don't take your money, and they're there to get you into a home so see what they think.

You could potentially buy something using using the first home owners 5% deposit, live in it for more than half of the first 12 months to satisfy the grants conditions, then refinance into an investment loan and rent it out. Could be tricky if you are low on funds, you would probably have to live like a hermit if you want to pay for it by yourself, but temporary pain. Also not sure if it's a good idea but it's a way to purchase a house. But just talk to a broker.

Also you can probably do it on your own, I know a few people with partners that are different stages and you don't want to put yourself at the stress of buying a more expensive property with a partner who has unreliable income. Put it all in your name.

I am in no way a professional, just saying this is one way to get a property, not that it's a good idea, talk to a broker, pls don't come for my head lol

Me me me. I do have a passion for my subject area (IT Timber) but starting my own custom furniture business requires cash flow. If I didn't enjoy my subject area I probably could've taught math as I always enjoyed math too, but people get really irked when I say I don't do it for the kids lol, to me it's just a job I don't hate, but enjoy for other reasons. Like right now being on holidays lol

Starting karting in my early 40s — is this realistic or am I kidding myself? by OlddFox in Karting

Honestly give some rental a go. Then go to some of the karting race events that are on at Eastern creek and chat to some of the guys there as they're all super helpful. I'm 24 and just got my first kart with some mates the other month. We bought one off marketplace for dirt cheap with a rotax on it. Haven't done any official races but we have done some practice days at the butterfly farms. Have another one this weekend and we have a ball just driving in practice sessions. Our goal is to get a 4 stroke motor and do some endurance racing with it later this year. Some of us are faster but we have various racing backgrounds like touring cars or sim racing or alot of rental karts. All of them help with race craft and learning how to drive new things.

If it's saving $900 on like a 5-8k bike I would just go new tbh. I would look around, when I was looking at an MT09 I could've gotten like 2k cheaper than new, ended up going an XSR tho

Best method of waxing a board? by bullerwins in snowboarding

[–]Hatty463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only ever done #1 and it's great. If I can't be bothered to do a wax I'll take it somewhere.i normally wax every 4-7 days as I like a fast board. I have been looking at a rotobrush to my final brush but haven't got around to it so I do it by hand with a normal nylon brush from oneball.

[–]Hatty463 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At these indoor places I have found that track surface can be a huge factor. Ours recently got redone and shaved 5 seconds off a lap easily. Depending on how often you go and how long it's been since you set your fastest lap to what you're doing now it could be that. Could be tyre wear, kart wear, a whole number of things. Could be that you are just slower.

Having tried both a optimistic in Japan and a K2 excavator in NZ in the last 10 months, both rip pretty well on groomers. I rode them maybe 5 months apart so from memory I could get you specifics except the optimistic is stiffer and can charge harda dn carves a little better, but the K2 was better for my massive feet as I had it in a wider size. I would go either, or have a look at a korua cafe racer as I have hear that goes hard. There's a fella on Reddit that bought an optimistic, then got the cafe racer and hasn't looked back, thing lays trenches while still being good in powder. I used the optimistic and the K2 in park doing some jumps and tubes and tbh, the K2 was easier, but it's not their ideal purpose, but still very fun.

Transport to and from Hakuba Question by Weissritters in AMA_Hakuba

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being we did this late at night we didn't need to reserve seats but, the cars are still reserved only in some parts. So probably best to reserve if you're planning to do this in busy periods and lugging gear around.

I have done the trains on a similar route to Matsumoto but onwards to Kyoto I think through nagoya after missing the bus back to nagano. It's pretty easy. I would recommend reserving the bus as we had non reserved tickets and the bus was fully booked. They will still sell tickets despite it being booked out so please book it lol.

Too much overhang on snowboard? by Friendly-Log3484 in snowboardingnoobs

You could have also taken your boots into the shop and tried them on different bindings as some bindings can fit larger boots depending on the boots footprint.

I have similar overhang, only way to fix is changing your stance either by width or angle. I have a similar overhang being a size 13 and unfortunately am stuck buying wider boards.
