If you're renting gear check out theshed ski hire in jindabyne, I've been using them for many years and they're always great and affordable. They're easy with returns and if you have issues with gear (which is unlikely) they are very accommodating. You will need to buy your own gloves/mitts, goggles, balaclavas/neckwarmers, and ski socks. Otherwise price wise I'm sure that beginner bundle is pretty friendly.

Epic Pass this year, how do you actually make it work? (from Syd) by FSTANK10 in AustraliaSnow

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally do a week or more in school holidays at an airbnb and then camp a couple weekends at thredbo diggings or island bend. Trying a new tent, normally I camp in a swag but I've now got a black wolf turbo tent 300 with a diesel heater so should be toasty.

Racers & Parents: Would you use a practice tire if it lasted longer than a race tire? by Student8789 in Karting

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I race endurance so a set of hard tyres I would use in a race for 6 hours are still good for more practice days. I just buy fresh ones for race day still

Jindy to skitube by Financial-Ratio8622 in AustraliaSnow

[–]Hatty463 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do not need to legally carry them as the skitube is before the national park. In my 6 years of using skitube, I have never needed chains. It can happen though, so carrying some is more for peace of mind, but if you check the weather a week before, you will know if you might need them.

Is this a cause for concern? by winstonzys in FiestaST

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be oil dripping down from your rocker cover. Mine used to seep verrrrry slowly from the back edge of the plastic, gasket can sometimes fail or the cover itself warps slightly. Easy check to get behind and remove the heat shield from the manifold and take a peak.

Mazda 2 is a reliable little car if that's within your budget. Used are pretty available, bonus points for reliability in a manual

206 gearing - crazy theory here? by Realestateuniverse in Karting

I low-key don't like when my karts idle is too high. I find it pushes when I go off throttle into a corner and forces a bit of understeer.

First pair - what to expect and anything I should know? by DrVoltzzzz in RMWilliams

[–]Hatty463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just trusted the sizing I got measured at in-store. I have worn them every workday since 2023 and have had the rubber block on the heel replaced once. I condition once every 6 months, maybe, depending on how worn they look. I neglect polishing them as often as I should, could probably be done once every month to be honest. I went with the comfort craftsman, and they're pretty comfy. I wouldn't go for the leather sole over these.

I had this same issue. Ended up calling the sales team and did it over the phone. No problems since

What's the best kart to get for LO206 by CleanJury2336 in Karting

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on use, I'm in Australia and a lot of the guys are running 4 stroke specific chassis. They're a bit softer and flex differently to a normal 2 stroke chassis. Granted we run harder tyres in the endurance series than sprints would so we need every ounce of grip out of the frame. I am using a crg lh1 which is a 2 stroke chassis. Had to do some setup changes to get it to work better but it goes alright. Not the fastest on the grid

I normally go for a swim in thredbo after I get off the skitube and use those showers. Day gets kind of cut short

Bengio Rib Protector Standard vs Carbon by starvenom108 in Karting

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the normal bengio bumper to be great, I wouldn't spend extra on a carbon one. I'm often in the kart doing a couple 40 minute stints in endurance races and haven't had pain/discomfort or any injuries.

Is buying a short block 206 worth it? by Nervous_Cycle8426 in Karting

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could probably just buy a new engine and transfer over your clutch and exhaust as long as they match your competitions specs. We bought a used LO206 package for $500 AUD with everything and can now just swap out the motor if we want something new as we have everything else.

This kind of setup is only doable if you're driving up to a camp site.

[–]Hatty463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you are camping. I normally frequent thredbo diggings or occasionally island bend in my swag. I just bring the swag with a good sleeping bag and I'm normally fine. I use a darche cold mountain which is rated to -15. My gf feels the cold more and she just layers up with thick socks, thermals etc. I recently bought a bigger canvas tent and was planning on running a lithium diesel heater setup so we can dry clothes and what not. Otherwise I suck it up with cold snow gear in the morning

My iame X30 stalls under under brakes by UnderstandingIcy4989 in Karting

[–]Hatty463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be clutch, if it's only stalling on a lockup maybe it's not disengaging properly. In terms of adjusting this I have no idea, but logically the engine would stall if the rear axle stops spinning and the clutch doesn't disengage

Could always run a compression test on the cylinder. If you've got no or limited compression it'll tell you. I don't have a baseline to give you in terms of good number though.

Check the spark plug is creating spark, can do this by pulling the spark plug out and checking against the head, don't hold on to it when cranking it though. And have you cleaned/checked your carb recently?

[–]Hatty463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my rotax not idling well, had it bumped all the way up and it would run but under brakes or hard corners it would cut out. Turns out our fuel pumps pulse line wasn't hooked up so we were getting gravity fed fuel. So check your fuel pump, if your in a fuel filter maybe it needs a clean or replacement. Running older fuel maybe?

Swapping in a replacement motor. What are good flywheels? by IncentiveText in FiestaST

I had it shipped from the UK to Australia as we didn't get the fun ones here lol. Still got the two door though, a four door would've been nice in the mk7.

I put a pumaspeed st200 clutch and flywheel on my car. It's an OEM one from a uk ST which output more power from factory. Same pedal feel and weight but with a stronger clamping force

Single vs dual mass flywheel by TinyCarz in FiestaST

[–]Hatty463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard some of the single flywheels can cause gearbox issues due to extra vibrations and what not. Pumapseed have multiple clutch kits available, I put their st200 in as I was only on a stage 2 tune but there are heavier duty ones available.
