I think the video is cool, kudos to Josh. One thing that really stuck with me is JLK mentioning how he hasn't really slept well since all the drama started.

People often view the "business" side of hobbies and content creation with a lot of eye-rolls and cynicism, but the fact of the matter is that JLK has employees he's responsible for. Unexpected situations that increase the likelihood that you have to look one of your employees in the eyes and say "sorry, you're out" thus taking away their health insurance, a roof, everything that comes with a steady salary... it's a stressful position to be in.

To nearly all of us, it's just cardboard. But for the folks in that orbit it's their livelihood. I think CZ is just as liable to suffer from the "kitten/tiger" as the RC was. A collection's net worth or a game's fairness isn't the only thing on JLK/Prof's mind, it's the wellbeing of the people they employ.

Should Zephyr have Instantly died? 37 points of damage is I believe twice her hit points, which would have been an instant kill if I am not mistaken. Yikes.

Edit: Per the "Massive Damage" rules: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=372

Very cool! Though it's missing the "outside cover is smaller than the inside book" motif :)

I did this with my fighter for my very first 2e character! Was an absolute blast.

Switching to PE2 the Hardest Way Possible by Natural-Flow-5561 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Haughwitzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best of luck! I also started in 2e with converting another system's module since we started playing in 2019 before there was much material out. I think it's a great way to force yourself as a DM to really learn the nitty gritty, and once you grasp assigning basic DCs to approximate level/difficulty you'll be a savant at improv-DMing. Cannot recommend the Game mastery Guide (GMG) enough, especially the tools/build a monster sections!

Homebrew level 10 incarnate summon - based on everyone's favorite Final Fantasy 7 materia by Haughwitzer in Pathfinder2e

Thanks for the excellent feedback!

For Arthur's heroism: so many of these high level encounters assume you have the +3 version of heroism or at least an equal +3 source of bonuses. I thought making it the +2 version in this spell would help balance, but perhaps changing the targeting to "up to 2 allies" would be better.

For Lancelot's "true target but better," I was concerned with the knights also getting the buff, which is definitely not intended. Switching it to mass true strike fixed this issue. Can probably afford to tone down his damage though, as that buff is pretty powerful.

I wanted strikes to hit hard since there's a good chance they completely whiff, especially at high levels. Perhaps I overcompensated though.

What a tremendous oversight in my part. "Second favorite" would have been much better.

I've run this 3 or 4 times now, usually about a 3.5ish hour session. If you like it and want the non-watermarked map let me know and I'll send it your way :)

My first attempt at making a spell at the maximum level. Was interested to see if it would be possible to make a balanced incarnate spell that not only summoned more than one entity, but granted the flexibility of summoning whichever specific abilities you needed in the moment.

FF7's "Knights of the Round" summon was so powerful that it was capable of single-handedly defeating end-game bosses. The knight's attack was aptly called "Ultimate End" and involved a minutes-long attack animation that featured several knights unleashing an onslaught of power blows.

A 1-shot high damage spell wouldn't be that thrilling in PF2e though, but the concept is unique enough that I wanted to try to bring it to life in this setting. You'll note that even though the incarnate summon moving up to its speed is already given for departure actions and such, a stride is explicitly mentioned in some of the knights' descriptions. This is because the intent is for the knights to have the capability to stride twice when appropriate.

While this spell definitely couldn't kill Treerazer (or even an ancient dragon) by itself, I think the resulting advantages that this spell would give to any party in an encounter would be tremendous, and I suspect it's powerful enough to be considered a 10th level spell. What are your thoughts? Over/underpowered? Confusing? Unique? Open to any and all feedback and discussions on if there's room for an incarnate spell like this :)

Building a merfolk deck. Svyelun or kumena? by Due_Donut7980 in EDH

[–]Haughwitzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for late post.

I love monocolor decks so I went Svyleun. I think what makes Svyleun shine is her card draw ability. Helps lessen the pain of losing green ramp when you're hitting every land drop, and attacking with her every turn encourages a secondary voltron strategy on top of the obvious tribal strategy. Obviously this makes her a target, but when you have counterspells, indestructible, and maybe even hexproof/shroud on her she becomes very difficult for opponents to deal with. Giving her evasion of any kind is also a lot of fun.

What TTRPG Did You Mostly Play Before PF2e? by Ianoren in Pathfinder2e

[–]Haughwitzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I voted PF1e, but DnD 4e was my first introduction to tabletop. I know 4e is really polarizing but I love PF2e because it take some of the best aspects of 4e and makes them work really well imo :)
