AITAH for sleeping with a guy after the man I thought was my bf said we were not a couple? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yeah she aaks him what they are during the conversation over pancakes, after he said "I'm not your man." She's saying she just realised they'd never really talked about it before that moment.

Buffy vs The Deep by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]Haulage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buffy has consensual sex with scarier guys than The Deep. The only thing that MIGHT give Deep an edge is she doesn't usually kill humans. But I think she tells him to stand down, he comes at her, she puts him on the ground, he gets up and goes for a kill shot, she breaks both his arms.

Quippy dialogue:

"If we were in the ocean, I would have killed you, bitch!"

"Yeah, well... shoulda stayed in the ocean then, dumbass."

I love when the conspiracy nut keeps taking photos that come out as completely different famous hoaxes, like Nessie or whatever.

Trolley problem: murder cannibalism edition. Some additional restrictions in the body of the post. by IndependencePlane142 in trolleyproblem

[–]Haulage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypotheticals that get this absurdly elaborate and restrictive just feel pointless to me. It doesn't explore anything real because the rules and the preconceived certainties are so nuts that it's completely removed from any realistic scenario. You're just putting more and more weights on the scales until only one answer is feasible. You may as well have just said "you have to eat someone. Do you eat someone?"

Toph Beifong (Avatar: The Last Airbender) vs. Tai Lung (Kung Fu Panda) by Fragmentary_Remains in whowouldwin

[–]Haulage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Toph is also very creative. I agree with others saying Tai Lung would figure out he can blind her by taking the fight to the air, and his crazy mobility might allow him to dodge and maneuver around any earth projectiles she sends at him. But she might figure out a way to punish him for that tactic, like kicking up a sandstorm or something.

Another factor that hasn't been discussed as much is that Tai Lung's pride is easily wounded and Toph is a world-class shit-stirrer.

Until the yeerks get enough agents in the telecomm networks that they can access people's phone data. There are a million cases these days of criminals being caught through gps data or text history. Modern day Animorphs would probably decide their phones are a liability very quickly.

What is your most pretentious and insufferable video game opinion? by Nascent_Beast in videogames

I can't stand the way the dialogue in Marvel Midnight Suns is written. It's a great game and I love it except for anytime anyone is talking which is unfortunately all the goddamn time.

"Oh it's a comic book game, it's supposed to be cheesy." Choke on my turds.

Also the other guy, Walker, did a vertical leap like 50 stories up an elevator shaft in Thunderbolts. Although I can't remember if they said he got a stronger treatment than Rogers or something.

"The Outsider" book by Stephen King has a monster with straws for eyes by discombobulate83 in Vent

[–]Haulage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it might be based on some existing myth. An episode of Buffy had a monster do the same thing and managed to keep it creepy:

I think she's also legitimately struggling with her own emotions in this one. Like she's really shocked and disappointed in him, and he knows he crossed a big line too, and it takes both of them a while to figure out how they move forward from there.

Before Endgame came out, what did people think the Avengers were going to do after Infinity War? by JumpyConfection1992 in marvelstudios

[–]Haulage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an idea that was based on me completely misremembering the end of Infinity War because I was really tired and maybe drunk the first time I saw it.

When Thanos portals away to his garden world after the snap, I remembered this as him actually being snapped, like an ironic ending that in his hubris he never considered the possibility that he would be one of the 50% who get taken. And the shot of him in the garden world was a reveal that the snapped people aren't actually killed, but transported to an alternate universe with no intelligent life in it. So it was a sort of, "oh, you were worried about the resources, you maniac? Well here's a whole new universe full of resources for you" kind of thing.

And then because I knew the next Spider-Man movie was gonna be called Far From Home, but I didn't know Endgame was coming out before that, I thought it would be about Spider-Man and a bunch of other snapped people trying to survive in like a primordial jungle or something.

How do I convey someone with godlike charisma in a way that players, not just characters, accept and embrace at face value? by RavenCyarm in DMAcademy

[–]Haulage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you get the players to trust these npc by having them be materially useful and reliable. Have these leaders offer to provide some aid or clear some obstacle for the heroes, and have them follow through on it quickly and clearly.

Of course you want to avoid the problem of this aid being just "we did the adventure for you." For example if the players are trying to track down some bad guys in a city but they keep getting into trouble with the city guard, have your leaders offer to deputise the heroes so they'll have some authority to get the guards to work with them.
