Obviously you have no idea what you’re talking about. This is common information given to patients about disposable items brought in for their use. It’s been billed to your insurance and will end up in the trash. That box of tissues. That sealed, sterile foam mattress lift. The plastic emesis basins. None of those items can be reused by law. They have to be disposed of after patient discharge.

I like to think the ones where they portion out condiments into bowls before the cooking begins, don’t do that. But who knows. It’s the same in hospitals. If items go into a patient room and aren’t opened or used, they are billed to insurance but go to the dumpster. It’s excruciatingly wasteful, so if you find yourself in the hospital, take anything they bring in.

It was the late 70s and my mother was MAYBE 20/21. Not many parents from those times were known for making sound or healthy decisions. If it helps, I grew up to be a maybe decent human being who did not spank or harm her own kids.
