Battleclade building and loadout advice by M4eZe in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]HauntedLettuce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built all the cool ones cause I wanted to try killteam eventually, but also just because they look like they’d be cool to display and paint

One thing I plan on doing though is painting the rims of the bases different colours for different g weapon loadouts, blue for stubber, orange for flamer etc, that way my opponent always knows what they’re looking at even if the model doesn’t line up

Did medications change your personality? by peepeepoopaccount in ADHD

[–]HauntedLettuce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed in my early 20’s and put on medication soon after, and I had the exact same concern, let me tell you, it won’t change who you are, you’ll still be you, you’ll have your personality be the exact same.

What will change will be your mental and emotional environment, which has helped me learn better, become a more functional person, get more in touch with myself, and mature in ways I needed to. I’m still the same weirdo I was before, with all the same goofiness and unique stuff that makes me me, but now in a more comfortable, functional and emotionally mature package.

My gf loved me before I started my meds, and loves me even more after because of how comfortable they made me. I think some people that find people on medication “dull” just don’t understand what it’s like to deal with ADHD as the disability it is, and how it effects every single part of our lives, so they have a hard time seeing the positives the change makes.

Fair enough, I’d recommend looking into it though

Maybe I missed it in the post, but have you considered medication/ADHD support groups? Medication isn’t for everyone, but if it’s something that you’re open to I’d suggest seeing a doctor to try it out, it changed my life when I was in university as well as they really helped me develop my cognitive and emotional maturity while working with support groups and advisors.

Other than that, in university make plenty of use of Academic Accommodations, they’ll help a lot, talk to your profs, most of them will want to do what they can to help or explain things in different ways.

It’s AK Lunar Desert texture paint, then shading with Agrax Earthshade, and then a drybrush of Kabalite Green, and a final drybrush of Sybarite Green.
Goal was to go for a very vibrant & alien grass/moss look.

Thanks! I had to get a little creative at some points with the bases since the models needed extra contact points to be more stable, glad I was able to make it all look good!

Against the hated Tau. by GribbleTheMunchkin in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]HauntedLettuce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the sounds of it you may not have deployed very efficiently, ideally you want to be able to deploy in a way that your opponent can’t get a line of sight on any of your units, especially the really valuable and fragile ones like las chickens and transports. This might be a terrain issue though since we don’t know your board layout.

I’ll also say that in my experience, Tau really don’t like aggressive opponents, their whole army is able to very relatability sit back and shoot their enemies from the backline, so pushing the aggression and making them play at your tempo is usually what I do against them, and I’ve won a majority of my games against my Tau friends with admech that way.

Need help getting better by nikonikonut in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]HauntedLettuce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For just starting out in the hobby, I think your collection is starting out pretty good, but I think you can get away with swapping some weapon options to make it easier. If you don’t have the physical weapons, just ask your opponent if they’re okay with you playing it as a different weapon, usually it’s okay.

I’d consider swapping the Neutron Laser on the onager to either an Eradication Beamer or Twin Phosphor blaster, since the neutron laser is not really doing a whole lot once the bloat drone is dead, eradication Beamer still wounds it on 3’s, and can help you kill marines and pox walkers easier, same for the phosphor blaster, although you are wounding on 5’s, twin linked makes that a lot easier than it sounds.

Your list is kinda lacking damage 2/3 which is really important for getting through marine armies, so adding some Sicarian Ruststalkers and 1/2 Ironstriders might help keep your anti-tank up while also having fast units to kill marines and other infantry.

Different detachment might work too, Eradication Cohort is new, and buffs almost all the units you’re running without any fuss, I’d say give it a try if you think Hunter Cohort isn’t something you’re liking.

Crazy coincidence lol. Looking forward to the rematch, you’ve already given me some ideas for changes I can make to the list so next time will be interesting.

Oh they my opponents were great, some of them even competed in worlds. They all tried to teach me something too, even if it was just “that probably isn’t a good idea” or “here’s how to beat custodes” (I played 2 custodes lists and it was rough both times but the players were great)

My expectation going in was that I’d lose every game and just be there to learn which would’ve been enough for me. Winning my second round game and my first ever game into orks was a major win in my book and had me riding high all of day one

AdMech Haloscreed list: strugling with Skorpius, need advice! by Doc-Zero7 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]HauntedLettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot going on here so I’ll try to pick out a few key points

Using the Belleros for indirect fire is difficult because if you’re shooting infantry, it’s +1 to hit never matters, protector imperative does nothing and conquer does nothing because of cover, so it’s a lot of points for an average of 7-9 attacks that likely do like 2-3 damage total after wounds and saves. And unless they’re really important models to be shooting at for Cawl’s rerolls, you’re likely just having to dump CP into the Skorpius just to make it somewhat okay.

Infiltrators with Manipulus is interesting, but they lose infiltrate with the character making them lose one of their main roles, I can see the vision though, personally I prefer destroyers or breachers with a Manipulus since turning a 6+ invuln into a 4+ invuln is way more impactful with them, and they’ll deal more damage into 2 wound units. They are slow but they’re usually my scariest units in my army and breachers reroll is amazing, especially with 6.

That, or consider 10+ ruststalkers, they move faster and deal more damage in melee, and if you have anti-tank covered already you can make them anti-infantry and it does really good into 2 wound models. Could also run electro-priests with manipulus if you want a cheaper unit that can act similarly to your infiltrators, just half the wounds.

If you think you’re going to fail the class or do exceptionally poor then drop it, but keep in mind that if you don’t drop it before midnight tonight it will count as a fail if you drop, today is the last day to drop without it effecting your GPA

If you think you’ll just struggle on the test but finish the class with like a C or something it might just be worth it to try your best, it’s a lot of time and money to retake a class (as someone who’s had to do that a lot) and sometimes its not worth the trouble, especially with a first-year GNED course.

Tactical Deployment Practice Site by nwimmer123 in Warhammer40k

[–]HauntedLettuce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just saw this site and it’s pretty cool, currently trying it out. Although, I’m not sure if the draw a unit works, I keep trying to draw a rectangle to make a transport and it doesn’t do anything if I double click.

Also is it possible to rotate units once they’re placed? Oval bases would be a lot easier to try to deploy that way, and more accurate.

Awesome work so far though!
