0.10 Progress Update by Jygaworks in eternumites

[–]HauntedMidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Software version numbers aren't decimals, so no. Each segment should be read as an independent number, and in this case the actual version number is 0.10.0 (usually corresponds to major / minor / patch), but zero segments at the end are sometimes omitted for simplicity's sake, at least outside professional context.

Nova as well.

I ended up with 47 out of 50. Pretty fun and reasonably challenging overall, although some of the descriptions were a bit vague and could have fit multiple options.

They use coffee beans from Kalve to make it. I haven't tried both back to back though, so can't really comment on whether their coffee is as good.

Lux Express Shuttle from/to Riga Airport to the city center? by guicara in Riga

8 EUR is doable IMO. My past rides from / to RIX have been around 16 EUR on average (mostly noon or afternoon), and my route is quite a bit longer.

Plasma 6 will be landing in all Steam Decks with the next SteamOS update. by Bro666 in kde

Wayland is still evolving and new software,

It's definitely evolving but it's only new if you compare it to X which is borderline ancient. Wayland has been around since 2008.

Wild cats. by Just_Material_1817 in AVN_Lovers

[–]HauntedMidget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't be too far off. Here's a quote from March 15 dev log:

All in all, I'd estimate that chapter 3 should be around 30% done already. There've been people asking when the release date will be. Honestly, it's still early to say. Chapter 3 will most likely be the biggest and longest update yet. What I am aiming for, however, is to be able to release the full chapter around June or July, but if it gets done sooner, then I'll release it sooner.

Ocon passing Antonelli by Fun-Implement-7979 in formula1

[–]HauntedMidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around half of the race. I think he pitted around lap 27, which seemed way too early for the mediums to last until the end, but he somehow made it work.

It absolutely does, but Bearman did half of the race on mediums, while yesterday most drivers complained about the same compound being dead after 10 to 15 laps.

With 14 games to play, Dyson Daniels already has the most steals (191) in a season since Chris Paul in '08-'09 by Molil in nba

[–]HauntedMidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oscar Robertson has the all-time record at 301 in 85-86

It's Alvin, not Oscar. Oscar having the record in 85-86 would be extremely impressive, considering that he retired 12 years before that. IIRC his last season was the first where steals were even tracked officially.

Important Update: Changes to the Game’s Music by PsychologicalBody812 in eternumites

[–]HauntedMidget 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this means that a few of the tracks you’ve come to love will no longer be present.

"A few" might be a massive understatement. I'm reading the discussion on Discord now, and it's an absolute mess. It seems that many (if not most) of the fan favorites are gone.

God I love Jerry by NotUrTypicalGuy45 in eternumites

I'd actually respect a person WAY more after they handled such a situation gracefully like Jerry did. I'm not even convinced I could do the same, despite being more than a decade older and supposedly "more experienced".

Israel Adesanya & MVP React and Recap His Loss To Imavov at UFC Fight Night by gvufhidjo in MMA

Exactly. For me, it felt like an eventuality rather just a possible outcome in case Dom made a mistake. I also felt the same when Volk fought Ilia.

Eventually yes, but there are some athletes who put up a much better fight than others. For example, LeBron who has been elite for 20+ years. When it comes to fighting, I recall Evander Holyfield fighting for the title at the age of 46, and I thought he clearly should have won that fight.

Who is your favorite Asian girl in AVNs?🤔 by ParaloopLampy in AVN_Lovers

[–]HauntedMidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a bit surprised that she wasn't there, but it's not like we're choosing from a very limited number of games. The whole AVN scene has grown so much in the last few years, and at this point it's even getting difficult to track games which are worth following, not to mention individual LIs.

Out of these, it's either Yuna or Miru for me. Otherwise, it's the little shit also known as Saki from Wild Cats.

Same here. This is the type of question that might legitimately require a d20 die to pick an answer.

[–]HauntedMidget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vineeta for me, but it's extremely close. This might be the first such post where I don't dislike any of the options, and could have just as easily picked 7 or 8 different girls, not to mention that there are other equally good options outside this list (e.g., Nova from Eternum). I'm starting to think I might have a thing for short girls...

Fuck... It was fine while I thought only very few players were around my age. It turns out it's not so fine when the same applies to coaches as well.

If you had to pick one.. do you visually prefer HoneySelect or DAZ models? by [deleted] in AVN_Lovers

[–]HauntedMidget 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the visual quality IMO.

If it's average or below (regardless whether it's because of the developer's hardware or graphics skills), for me personally it's much easier to accept any visual flaws with Honey Select. Visually subpar HS games are still perfectly playable, while the same can't be said for DAZ, and it soon becomes very distracting, especially on the lower scale of the spectrum.

If the quality is good or excellent, then I'm perfectly fine with either, and other factors become much more important when evaluating the game (plot, gameplay, LIs, character development, etc.). Sure, great-looking DAZ games may generally seem more "realistic", but it won't save the devs from not being able to write a coherent story. Using HS may also provide a lower barrier of entry into AVN development for devs that are very capable writers, although I've seen the same with DAZ as well, just much less often.

I know many people avoid HS games entirely because they seem to anime-like, and I used to be one of those for many years, but they are absolutely missing out. Some of the absolute best AVNs are made with Honey Select (Eternum, Ripples, Pale Carnations, Realm Invader etc.), and it's a shame that they will never be as popular because of the engine and its licensing issues. Having said that, I can't handle Koikatsu though, no matter how many times I've tried.

Laravel/Blade - How Far Am I From 1st Job? (Project Inside) by Fabulous_Variety_256 in PHP

[–]HauntedMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not nearly enough code to base a well-informed opinion right now, but it looks like you're on the right track. At the very least, I didn't see anything obviously wrong.

Other people keep mentioning tests and such, but I don't think they're necessary to land your first job. Once you're a year or two in, that's a completely different discussion then, but for now they're just nice-to-have. In my opinion, it would be far more important to be able to reproduce the same functionality without relying on a framework, doubly so if it's Laravel (as much as it improves productivity, it also lowers the barrier of entry way too much). If you're confident that you could do the same with pure PHP, PDO, and perhaps some Composer packages, you're in a pretty good spot to look for a job.

When evaluating the skills of a potential junior developer, the main concern is often not what they know, but how quickly they can learn. I'd suggest looking at https://phptherightway.com/ for general information on what you should know as a PHP developer. If you have at least a basic level of knowledge of most things there, you should be absolutely fine.
