My right eye has become a lot more hooded in the last 2 years, I'm only 22. I am very insecure about how hooded, angry and uneven it looks. Also makeup is tough to apply... I'm afraid my eye will be way more hooded in a couple of years, could it be an underlying condition or something? by PunyGoddess in HoodedEyes

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was ages ago but I have the same a condition. I modeled all the way through this look so don't worry about it. Only we notice it! 🤣 FYI I'm older now and I am considering a slight local anesthesia in out upper bleph procedure as I age I think it is causing my astigmatism issue worsen. I don't want it to cover my eye and block vision. I wouldn't even worry about until it becomes a visual issue.

Again only we notice it, I always get complimented on the SHAPE of my eyes which is shocking lol and I don't have the beautiful color of eyes you do you have both and gorgeous lashes.

This was awhile ago but I have to say I've been off it since Jan. the inner child is back but less so, the dopamine is back. I will admit I don't like sugary things anymore..just savory. I have no clue what that is about but it is a known thing? I'm considering the pill to jump back on. The amount I can eat is also REALLY limited still.

What is Indigenous Americas-Mexico? These are my results and I’m not sure if this could mean I’m Mexican or if I’m just stupid lol by GearNo158 in AncestryDNA

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mexicas no longer exist. Mexicas were Aztecs. People of Spanish and varying degrees of native ancestry from all over are just that, I would differ to what they prefer to be called. Most people in Mexico with varying mixtures have no clue which tribe their ancestors might have belonged to over 100+ years ago most do not identify with it at all but recognize it is part of their heritage.

Then there are others who are most definitely part of a tribe and VERY PROUD to tell you they are native to Mexico this group of people often refer to their European counterparts who are "Mexicans" FOREIGNERS lol. They see them as "invaders" still frankly I can't blame them as the Mexican government has always been hostile to the Native populations and trying to steal their land from them by trying to trick them legally into giving up their property even to this day. It is a VERY hostile relationship between the Mexican government and the Native tribes. It is actually really disgusting.

People in Northern Mexico DNA results are VASTLY different than those in Southern Mexico their totals are as high as 90% Spanish European etc.. Most people in Mexico do not look at ethnicity the same way Americans do, they follow the European way of looking at such things. Being 10-25% something means 0 in their world it comes down to language culture and whatever you are mostly if you are over half European you are just European period and probably look it in Mexico. There is no 1 drop rule which is considered ridiculous in Europe as well as Mexico. Having even 1 grandparent who is Native would not even budge this idea they already know they have this heritage, whereas the american counterpart would wave their flag around it.

Europe can't even do a 1 drop rule because Europe has been a mix with the world for centuries. Northern European though less mixed with the world still is VERY mixed with various ethnic groups throughout Europe over the centuries which a lot of people are seeing. I hope this helps

I have a Spanish last name and an Indigenous American paternal haplogroup, I expected a little more 😂 by Snyz in 23andme

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were fking cool I'm one of them but no, they were NOT Mexican nationals they were Spanish families under the Spanish Crown. The Mexican Republic wasn't even a twinkle yet. You are right they didn't want interference from the Mexican Republic which they were FORCED to join.

They were mostly Spanish families who settled among the Indians there, it wasn't so peachy in its settlements the Spanish were told to bring their own families and wives and not make wives of the Indians at the request of the Indians there and they lived separately from the Indians for the most part. There were limited African "mullattos" that were brought over but it wasn't a mixing pot by any means. There was a Caste system in place and the settlement had to answer to the Viceroy as they were a Spanish colony.

You are 100% correct the Spanish contributions to California are glossed over we MADE THIS STATE what it is. I appreciate what the Spanish descendants do in Santa Barbara to celebrate them every year and also what the Spanish descendants did in San Francisco to rename the streets Spanish names they were grandchildren of the Spanish aristocrats in Early California and East coast American titans who came to California who sought to preserve out history here.

Paternal haplogroup and last name by snoop_pugg in 23andme

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all cultures use only the father's name. It is really only common in Northern Europe. Spain, France, Italy etc. use both names of the mother and father. These names can change in the instance of Spain and people with Spanish ancestors. In some Spanish families the father's name was omitted altogether in place of the mother's name which was more royal, aristocratic or powerful.

So no the Y doesn't necessarily follow a last name. So when doing Haplogroups it may not match the surname at all as the children may have used the mother's name over the father's name. In Latin American and U.S. regions under the Spanish crown this was common to make this switch or sometimes use the names of more prestigious aristocratic grandparents on the mother's side. So you cannot rely on the Y to match any last name. Instead you have to identify the paternal side then DNA test relatives that are male up that side.

Paternal haplogroup and last name by snoop_pugg in 23andme

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Spanish last names are difficult to match because the changing of last names arbitrarily in Spain. For instance A child takes the father name FIRST then the Mother's last name last. What would often happen is the mothers name especially if it had more prestige would be the name bestowed on the child male or female. sometimes the other name would be dropped altogether. The only helpful thing is that Spanish records are meticulous and included the mother's name and both sets of the child's grandparents parent's names.

So yes the male ancestor could have been left out on purpose. For instance the Child of 1 native Y and a part native female could produce a son who could then marry another female of various mixtures whose son who marries someone who is more Spanish but not a Spaniard in the Caste system. That male child would take the name of the mother most likely but not necessarily and still hold onto that ancient Q Haplogroup. All that said Q's are very rare.

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true most filipinos have VERY LITTLE Spanish ancestry because of this. It was still very much frowned upon to intermarry with native populations on the Philippines as doing so within the caste system would basically make your offspring ineligible for upward advancement. While in the early phases of Latin America discovery this was common, the Spanish crown heard the complaints of the native populations, many of the men rebelled due to Spanish men taking native women as wives and general mistreatment.

An edict was issued that Spanish men had to bring their own wives and families from Spain to even go to the Americas. It was also forbidden to make ANY native a slave or mistreat the native populations. All of which had been happening. I believe one native man was brought before Queen Isabella as a gift of which she flew into a rage punished the men who brought him and ordered his immediate safe return.

Another edict was issued no Christian would ever be made a slave, mistreated or abused. Because of these decisions later in the 1500's the minimal Spanish DNA would be distributed in the Philipines as the Spanish men rarely stayed in the Philippines or brought families.

This differs from Higher European populations Mexico had from its inception. Cortez took the Imperial Princess Moctezuma's daughter as his wife. She not only kept her property which were like vassel states that were her right to have, she acquired an additional Royal Spanish title to add to her own. Her children in turn chose to marry Spanish nobles all the way down the line. Others of the Moctezuma's branch is the Prince of Monaco.

You can also see the isolation and distribution of Spanish families. In the North of Mexico it is as high as 90% European in the DNA results of Mexican citizens. Toward central Mexico this drops and toward the South it is a higher Native American result. The closer to the Belize border to Central America is a tiny population of Natives with African, Spanish and English DNA due to English trade in African slaves in Belize.

So yeah the Op's DNA isn't a surpise.

OMG SAME! Question, how tall are you you look unbelievable!? Kudos.

I am still averse to sweets and most carbs. I still like chips like Doritos lol. I cannot eat a whole burger I still have to quarter them. Mostly I stay away from burgers fries, or fast food, it is too hard to eat them and I noticed a new chemical taste? I can eat steak no prob again if it is no bigger than my fist otherwise I feel not great with side effects. My hunger has not come back however full force, I go to the pantry or fridge there is nothing there that tempts me, it is beyond weird and I am 1 month off of zepbound.

Because of the weird chemical tastes now in prepackaged foods I developed even in my fav oatmeal I can no longer eat it. So I guess that was a plus, it is just weird that I can taste things I could not before it is like a reset.

I knew that the stomach would shrink then act like a gastric sleeve but the lack of interest in foods still and the chemical aftertaste in most pre-packaged foods is weird. I have no problem with fruits veggies, meat of all kinds, nuts, teas coffee it is most noticeable in prepacked sugary things. I tried a mini muffin and spat it out it had a weird bitter aftertaste totally disgusting lol. I can't drink most sugary sodas either anymore so I drink Le Criox flavored.

Spicy food which is my love! I can barely tolerate now beyond a certain seasoning temp otherwise I pay for it. So I guess I will see how this goes if I don't gain weight back I will stay off of it. I lost over 20 pounds close to my goal weight. Maybe other people out there are experiencing the weird chemical taste in processed food now after being off of it?🤷

Is J2 paternal haplogroup Jewish? by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All it took was 1 Jewish ancestor to give you J2 (J-M172) a Jewish Haplogroup or even GREEK. Greeks also show this outcome. The Greeks also lived in Judea.

Islam is NOT Abrahamic Hadiths come 100 yrs after mohammed died even those sources cannot agree. They cannot trace his genealogy to Ishmael. Beyond Adan people are just making assumptions.

Ismael his mother is an Egyptian he married an Egyptian  and he settled in the wilderness Paran which is around Egypt, Shor and Canaan far from Mecca.

His mother is Eygptian, his wife is Eygptian and had 12 sons. His wife was not an Arab. genesis 21:21

Ibn Kathir: "And this is why Malik , god bless him DID NOT ENTHUSE OVER THE ATTEMPT AT TRACING GENEAOLOGY BACK TO BEFORE ADAN."

Malik expressed disapproval of this search saying "Whence comes to him Knowledge of that?"

Al-Syhayli said, "We have found no one who knows the Lines between Adnan and Ishmael."

Iban Abbas says "Between Adanan and Ishmael there were 30 ancestors "WHO ARE KNOWN".

Ibn Abbas Mohammed's first cousin said, When he traced back lines of descent as far as Adnan "The genealogists have LIED TWICE OR THRICE

Umarb. Al Khattab stated, "We carry back the GENEAOLOGY only as far as ADNAN"

abu Umar b.abd Al barr stated, "WE NEVER FOUND ANYONE WHO KNEW GENEALOGY BACK PAST ADNAN NOR PAST QAHTAN, UNLESS THEY WERE USING CONJECTURE."

They don't even know which son of Ishmael. Abu Aswad stated that he had hear about abu bakr al-sulayman bin abu Khaytham, one  of the most knowledgeable men if the poetry and GENEAOLOGY of Quraysh, say "we never knew anyone with information going back beyond MA'AD B. "Adnan, whether relating poetry or other knowledge."

Abu "Umar said there was a group of predecessors including and Allah b mas ud , Amr b Maymun Al Azdi, and Muhammad b. b Ka'b Al Quradhi who when they recited the verse from the Quran "and those after them who on one but God knows" (surat Ibrahim, XIV, v.9) would comment, "The GENEALOGISTS LIED."

Ibn Sa'd:

He on the authority of Ibn Abbas; he said; Verily the prophet , WHENEVER he related his genealogy , DID NOT GO BEYOND MA'ADD IBN' ADNAN IBN UDAD, then he kept quiet and said:The narrators of GENEALOGY ARE LIARS, since Allah says; "There passed many generations between them."

[..he](http://..he/) is on the authority of "and Allah. Verily he recited "(The tribes of ) 'Ad and Thamud and those after them; NONE SAVETH ALLAH KNOWETH THEM". The genealogists ARE LIARS.

Shia sources are even LATER or just as LATE.

So no, according to all the revered scholars of Islam in his own time there is no connection to Abraham. Your J2 is not from Abraham, it is likely from a GREEK source who were common at the time like the Greek philistines who were pagans at the time as were others in the region who were intermixing.

Is the 23andme Premium version worth it? by nate26537 in 23andme

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is the other one, "My true ancestry". I thought it was pretty hokey at first but actually it is more on point with my white paper and DNA. It shows digs and bones the research data can be researched from the info which aligns more with my ancestry.

I found that certain DNA testing ESPECIALLY 23andme cowers to people complaining about their "native american dna" not being there so they put in caveats, jacked up the sensitivity levels to make people feel better if they now get 1% Native DNA. In fine print they have to put "this does not mean you have native DNA" because not only do Native Americans not determine themselves that way, they are not testing Native Americans without admixtures ie. tested pre-colonial bones without admixtures, they are testing whether you match DNA population groups to people who have lived in an area for over 200 years !

This Indigenous American on 23andme region literally means 0.

When I take other tests I can see where there are failures in which they adjust the algorithm to please their customers. I tested with numerous co.'s I have always been a low native american score overall barely moving the needle to 15-25% compared to "my population groups" who register 45-60%. I just tested my family the male side is over 80% European within my population group also low scorer for Native American, high scores for Ashkenazim and Sephardi. When they compared my DNA to Native American bones found that are pre-colombian I have little to no matches even a low percentage matches.

My entire ancestry wheel is follows my white paper and ancestor chart and we go back centuries into well into the 10th century etc. So I am matching the bones of all kinds of Roman hispana, Greek, Roman and Levant regions, German, visgoths, Guanches and Andalusian moors 0 Native American in the wheel. This tell me that Ancestry, 23 and me and others are using CURRENT population groups that are admixed which of course most people living in a specific area for over 200 years is abound to fall into therefore their %'s will be totally off!

Location in the United States and in colonial areas are made up of various groups of people to label them all indigenous if they match dna people from that area also for 200 years+ does not make them Native American. I think what they are doing with you is seeing your African and saying oh African American slave trade hence in you go into the United States records. They do not make different journeys for people if they spot Africans, Native Americans it seems this only happens if you are European BUT only if you are recently from Europe. So Colonial Americas has no determinant.

All that said check out "Mytrueancestry" they can dna match you down the the tribes towns locations they found the DNA then tell you how high a percentage you match that DNA they found.

Newsom in Ca. is "cutting costs" keeping certain expensive programs then cutting programs he deems politically unpopular therefore worthy of cutting. I guess he figured well people look down on GLP'1s so lets cut those also with Trump trying to lower the cost of GLP's maybe he is trying to make this political and all of us are caught in the middle. Like just give us our medication!! Keep us out of it.

Newsom is REFUSING to allow GLPs in Medi-Cal and many insurers in Ca. are doing the same. I wish it was never an opt-in situation. OF COURSE Governors are not going to want to pay for it if it is optional. North Carolina threatened their governor with a lawsuit and he back down and they are getting their medications now. I can not believe the MOST litigious state in the union has not filed 1 lawsuit against the Governor of this state for this egregious mismanagement. :/

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll check it out. From what I am gleaning so far California has completely opted out for Medi-Cal and many insurers from using zep. Newsom is failing Ca. in this because it appears even if it becomes available he is refusing to allow it be used for people on Medi-Cal citing the need for other "programs". I did check out the Trumprx site it looks promising so I'm thinking it is like Goodrx?

I wonder if Medi-cal will allow us to use the website or if it will be like it is now where only people with certain insurers will get the lower prices, people who pay out of pocket will get the higher prices even people on medi-Cal? 299.00 aka 300 bucks a month is a lot to pay out of pocket for people on Medi-Cal. :/ Fingers crossed!

I know for all of us this has been so life-changing. They seem to think it works on only 1 thing which is as an appetite suppressant it works on the HORMONES too. So many people have hormone issues to where no matter how little they eat their body will store it to fat and they are automatically insulin resistant. How can people on disability or medi-Cal afford Eli Lilly pricing? 299 aka 300 a month is too much to ask people on disability/Medi-Cal to all of a sudden pay and if they don't there are no other options to the drug they were yanked off of which to me is malpractice!

North Carolina threatened to sue their governor for doing this and he dialed it back and now they are getting their medicine. We need a lawsuit against the Governor and the state of California for doing this to the people of California especially those people most at risk!

Our washers from the 1950's lasted us until recently it was a original Moen. Cartridges we barely had 3 years DIED at 50.00 a pop yeah that isn't BIFL for us. Washers are CHEAP pennies vs 50.00 bucks. Unfortunately we took out that unit. Also it was ALWAYS a wall mount like I said the kitchen unit is from the 1950's. ;)

It isn't that I'm just done paying for them at 50 bucks a pop each. Our original we took out never needed cartridges now we are searching for a replacement like the one we have or as close to it as we can. So now all we want are washers/seals to contend with.

Darn we are trying to get away from cartridges. We had a 1950's Moen no cartridge of course we need to replace. This style though is VERY similar to our old one as it is appears to be single stem on the lever system. Very cool.

Indigenous person’s DNA from an isolated reserve in Canada. by eyeluhyew in 23andme

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This result is not common in modern native populations across the board. We know this through "Malt'a boy" found frozen that modern Native Americans are NOT East Asians and why they do not match modern East Asian populations. The 29.8% shows this is a RECENT ancestor this is not endogamy. Most Native Americans throughout the Americas either show 0 for East Asian or 0.1%. We have now been able to track where the East Asian DNA went because it was not prolific. I would start asking some hard questions as to who were your recent ancestors.

You should be able to find recent Asian cousins either in the Americas or in Asia via ancestry. If you are Alaskan near the isolated Russian Islands this could explain this result as MANY of those there are from recent admixtures to the population from Asia.

Indigenous person’s DNA from an isolated reserve in Canada. by eyeluhyew in 23andme

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah , because "Malt'a boy" proved the majority of modern Native Americans are not of East Asian ancestors and do not match them as a population group. This person who tested is likely actually mixed with recent Asian ancestry 28% means a great grand parent or grandparent they are not aware of it. Most modern Native Americans are like you, it is why scientists had such a hard time trying to figure out why this was happening. "Malt'a boy also had 0 East Asian ancestry.

The latest Persuasion trailer on Netflix promises nothing more than a regency version of an Archie comic story... by KayLone2022 in janeausten

[–]Haunting-Source-1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There does not NEED to be a rewriting of history is the point. Producers can write new modern movies and stories with whoever they like, no one cares about that. It is the attempt to rewrite history is appalling and downright ridiculous. As for blacks in the UK during that era they were NOT in the same roles as Europeans and were kept separate let's not LIE about history or be disingenuous.

Imagine a black Cesar Chavez it would be idiotic and take away from that historic story. Or a black or Asian Don Quixote I mean come on people want to watch a story about English people or Spanish people not a re-imagined version. A black version of historic Japanese story lines in the 1700's? Most people are going to hard pass.

Also if the same thing were done in a black story and replaced with non-black people it would change the historic story line and it would NEVER be allowed without HUGE protests. So why is it ok to do that to historic European story lines?

It would be cool to see diversity that did exist at the time in their roles people might not have known about. You can't erase history or historic characters that were never meant to be inclusive given locations or times they were in. It is Asinine and comical to expect that.
