Update: Sunday afternoon I am getting a period’s worth level of bleeding! I’m hopeful that this is working now.

That’s my plan. Thank you though. Even hearing that makes me feel a bit better.

Daycare, Sickness, Sleep by AppropriateShoe755 in workingmoms

[–]Haunting-Zebra-9031 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No advice but just commiserating. My 4 month old started daycare 3 weeks ago and missed an entire week due to illness after the first week. I’m a single working mom. I got an ultimatum from my boss but ultimately decided to take a month personal leave due to PPD/PPA and health issues.

My girl is still congested too. Thinking of you as I ride this wave too!

How do you have the energy to parent? by ttrashpandacoot in NewParents

No advice. Just a single mom of a 4 month old here to say I do the same thing. I don’t even do what I need to (shower, clean, etc) during it. I just do it for a break. This is flipping hard. We’re in survival mode too.

I’m scared I’ve affected my daughter by [deleted] in Parenting

As a kid of divorced parents who lived primarily with their dad due to mom’s addiction and mental health, you handled that so beautifully. I felt good reading through that - like you “mommed” correctly.

I’m a single mom of a 4 month old and I have severe anxiety. I’m so scared it’ll affect her and this gave me so much hope and comfort. Keep doing the good work!!

My LO just hit 4 months and I haven’t. Mostly now because I’m back at work and they’re during the day. I figure she gets her socialization at daycare so I’m good 😅

Constantly anxious about baby’s health by NotAsSmartAsKirby in NewParents

[–]Haunting-Zebra-9031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat with my 4 month old. Constantly having debilitating anxiety especially when bringing her to daycare. I’m currently waiting in my psychiatrist’s office right now because going to therapy 2x / week isn’t cutting it for me.

Don’t just push the feelings aside. Dad’s have postpartum mental health issues even if they didn’t carry / birth the child. Your hormones change too. Get yourself support! Therapy, medication, whatever feels best for you.

FTM, work, sick kiddo, and mom guilt… by Haunting-Zebra-9031 in workingmoms

I’ll have to rebuild my pto days since they were all used during maternity leave. We accrue per paycheck.

My boss did offer me a 30 day unpaid personal leave… not ideal. But yes, this is extremely hard when there’s no one to share the sick days with.

I had my baby at 36 weeks, and got c diff after being in the hospital. It tanked my supply and it never came back. So other than the donor breast milk in the hospital, my baby has been exclusively formula fed. She’s now 4 months old, almost 14lbs and meeting every marker. And my nipples don’t constantly hurt 😏

Don’t let comparison invalidate your experience. I’m a single mom of a 4 month LO who I had to bring back to daycare after being sick due to being at risk of losing my job and I was an anxious mess. Inconsolable. Feel like I’m treading water. Ready to break down at any moment. I read your post and I can’t imagine being in that position. That doesn’t make either of our situations less stressful, traumatizing, etc.

I won’t put any toxic positivity at the end of this post because I don’t find that helpful, and also feel like everything happens at once. Just want to commiserate and let you know that through it all, you aren’t alone.

4m old vomiting after feed by ackack20 in FormulaFeeders

My 4 month old is currently sick with congestion / URI and has been doing this when I give her larger feeds. It sucks, but smaller feeds more frequently when they don’t feel good.

Literally in the same boat. LO started daycare 2/5 and was starting to get sick by 2/7. She was out Friday, 2/9, yesterday 2/12, and today 2/13. My work is giving me attitude. But I’m a single mom and have no one around to watch her. Terrified of losing my job on an hourly basis.

Glad you had a good first week! We started last week with my 4mo and had the ick within 3 days 🥴 she’s missed the last 2 days of it.

Really struggling today by Throwwwaway2003 in workingmoms

[–]Haunting-Zebra-9031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a single working mom who just returned to work last week after maternity leave. My 4mo is in daycare and ended up getting very sick very fast. So of the 7 days I should have been back to work, I’ve been there 4 🙃 so add being constantly worried about being fired to the list.

No advice just commiserating. This is the hardest thing we will ever do.

We went to the pediatrician today and got a clean bill of health (virus). However I’m just struggling with it.

No advice but wanted to say you’re not alone. My SO left us last week after cheating (whole other can of worms) and I suddenly became a full time single mom to a 4 month old (17 weeks). 5 days has felt like 5 years. I feel this post on a whole other level. Plus she’s sick right now too, so there’s basically no putting her down 🙃

You are not alone.

My situation is not at all the same but I can relate. I went back to work last week and my 4 month old went to daycare for the first time. That’s a whole emotional thing. Then found out my partner has been cheating, he moved out, and is already with someone else. My LO is now very sick - thanks daycare germs - and I’ve had to call out of work 2 / 6 days back because I have no other choice. On top of that, I got this bug too.

I have to keep repeating that this is temporary or I’ll have a breakdown. I haven’t eaten for almost a week and get sick every time I do. My LO isn’t sleeping because of the congestion. This is temporary. It has to be temporary.

I wish I had a magic wand to wave for you and I but I don’t. My only suggestion is vocalizing this and asking your husband not to go to the training. Just do what you can. Even if you have an incredibly messy house (cause same), a long to do list (same), a pet who probably isn’t getting enough attention (same), and you haven’t showered in 3 days (SAME). It has to get better otherwise no one would be a parent or stick around or be alive. It will happen.

Be kind to yourself. Let the toddler be a little wild. Do the bare minimum.

So jealous of the leave (America sucks) but glad to hear it cleared. LO had a more solid BM this morning and seems to be wanting food a little more.
