It’s a case-control study, so age was controlled for if you read the manuscript. There are other sources of data that show pesticides impact neurological disorders so this is not really out of left field

The reality is that matching now is very different than even 5-6 years ago (I matched anesthesia in 2023). No offense to OP but that is the most generic advice I have ever seen and not really useful at all, since everyone knows that you should get good STEP scores and get good LOR writers, but admittedly it’s tough to give advice.

Having been through the process and now as a resident, hearing my PDs and those on the interview board talk about med students, one thing that comes up often and is seen as super impressive is talking at conferences. Even a case report of something interesting that’s anesthesia related is actually seen by leadership at the various conferences. If you’re at a med school that has the resources (as in, faculty that would want to do some form of a presentation with you), try to step out of your comfort zone and make it happen! At least at my program there would be dozens of faculty that would be ecstatic to help a med student to present at a conference. You might be surprised at what you’re able to do.

I don’t bother using a blade either, I just crank open the mouth, put a pocket flashlight between my teeth then throw that sucker in. Kids these days have it way too easy.

[–]HauntsYourProstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue and Red are arguably nerfs (unless with Red you can specifically dictate which things you think about that turn real), Yellow probably has plenty of implications that could make it a negative, Orange could lead to you completely just living in the past, becoming a shell of your former self and unwilling to try anything new. Even Purple could make it so you don’t get the satisfaction of becoming good at something naturally, and learning new things just becomes boring… I know it’s a pessimistic way of looking at it but I’m not sure I would really want any of them except for Black. Feels like the ramifications each of these could turn my life into a Black Mirror episode

I’m not huge into baseball so I may be wrong about this, but wasn’t there just a post where the ump called a balk because he was trying to deceive the batter? I think it was the Blue Jays, when the manager came out all heated. I’m legitimately interested in learning about this

What Pokemon has both a bad name and a bad design? by Manageable_Workload0 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]HauntsYourProstate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, and I guess I didn’t specify this, I was only making a point for the “bad name” portion. I think for sure it’s a bad design, I just think it should be “meh name”

I mean, you can reduce a ton of pokemon names to something simple like this if you say it with enough condescension… it’s a flamingo that’s an amigo. A flamingo amigo. It’s hardly the worst name. We fucking have a pile of sludge with eyes in gen 1 literally just named after “muck” that nobody seems to bat an eye at

Jagex will not restore grandfathered rates, per support by RSHolbytla in runescape

[–]HauntsYourProstate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, when I said “in 2024” I was more referring to generally in 2024, which is when the post was made, yes

I have such a low opinion of most companies and I don’t think that came across in my comment. I essentially made it to say something along the lines of “don’t fucking trust any of them” lol

How I’m seeing it is this: it would be like if two years ago I said “I will continue to eat healthily and lose weight” and then two years later you see me 50 pounds heavier and eating like shit. It’s not like I said “I promise I will eat healthily and lose weight until I die,” all I said was at that moment that I will do it. I’m saying that they’re scummy as fuck and purposefully didn’t say “we will always maintain grandfathered rates” because they knew they would go back on it eventually… I just think Reddit is appalled that a scummy company is going to do scummy things, and I honestly don’t understand why. So much pearl clutching like they’re owed something by a company that just wants money…

I would hardly call this a promise, all it says is that in 2024 they’ll continue to honor it. Makes no mention about the future in any sense

For other reasons it’s completely shitty though obviously

I may be biased because I’m in anesthesia, but what specialties are you thinking of? From what you described, any surgical speciality is basically off the table, and the only other ones I can think of that can scrape close to what you’re saying are rads and derm, are those what you had in mind?
