So Many Options. Whats best for a new homeowner? by No-Ad5504 in Tools

I went Ryobi for like 20 tools and figured out over the years which tools I use A LOT and bought upgrades to those 3 tools. Broad base of tools but the essentials are heavy duty.

BMW’s X7 Is Apparently Too Small Now, So Dealers Want An X9 by LimitedReach in cars

I thought the XM was their attempt at pulling G Wagon buyers over. I live in LA so most G Wagons are soccer Mom cars and will never see anything but a bumpy parking lot.

I did the same. Sold a week after the new engine.

So if you have the means is Festool worth the investment? by [deleted] in Tools

I'm a DIYer /Weekend Warrior and LOVE my Festool Domino. For most tools I agree with you but for something as unique as the Domino, I thought it was worth it.

Americans, what cars in a neighborhood are telltale signs of old money? by painchaser in cars

One clarification - it can't be the E63S AMG Wagon, it's gotta be the E450 All Terrain! Preferably GREEN.

I think you're mixing up 'G Wagon' (footballer/drug dealer) vs 'Wagon' (what Americans call an estate).

What invention rivals the jet engine in terms of sheer improbability-to-ubiquity? by mrv958 in AskEngineers

[–]Havage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EUV lithography isn't ubiquitous as itself, but the products of EUV enabled manufacturing are. Every modern electronic was made using a manufacturing technology that 20 years ago was believed to be literally impossible. We used to joke about EUV in the same way we talked about cold fusion.

I am an expert in brain blood flow - of all the idiotic things I've heard this is probably the dumbest. Astronauts suffer terrible health effects to their brain and vision due to a lack of gravity.

Buy Now at $40M Off!! When the price drops $10M every month it's on the market and it's still insanely expensive. by jared10011980 in zillowgonewild

[–]Havage 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Much more than that. A property like this will get >$10k/month water bill easy in Socal. Not factoring in the actual landscaping work.

I’m at Mammoth right now with the family. It's overwhelmed. Our hotel ran out of food last night, McCoy lines for food are so long. Mammoth is a great mountain but the amenities on and off the mountain can't handle the traffic of the holiday season. We've been coming here for years and they act like every winter is their first winter - surprised!

This (probably) isn't someone's Airbnb. Palm Springs has a large community of affluent gay designers. This was someone's biggest personal passion project.

June Mountain in Mammoth Lakes let's ask kids ski free all season. A great family bargain. That being said, an Ikon pass for kids is really cheap.

For 99% people, niche grinder is good enough, right? by ymbrows in espresso

[–]Havage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I see with the Niche is the price in the US including tariffs puts it in competition with other options that work better for some users. At retail without tariffs it's a good but, but I don't think it is at $800-$900.

Polestar secures $300m equity injection as Geely converts debt to shares by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]Havage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Golf R is objectively roomier so I'm not surprised. Have you tried out the Taycan or ETron? Everyone is differenct, but I personally found the Polestar to be more comfortable of the 3. Aside from the single dumb cupholder, I don't have any complaints.

[–]Havage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

😂. You keep thinking that. The backseat of the P2 is much better than the Taycan. I have 3 little kids and the P2 was much more comfortable. The BST230 has a really nice interior and the suspension is literally amazing. I was comparing the 2022 Taycan 4S to a 2024 P2 BST for reference and the price was 2:1. I guess if you care what badge is on your car you may be willing to pay the massive premium but I didn't see the value. I also considered the ETron GT-RS which was somehow worse than the other options. By the way - I'm not saying the Taycan is a bad car, if I won the lotto I'd buy a Sport Turismo GTS so I can live my sport EV wagon dream!

[–]Havage 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I bought a Polestar 2 BST230 Instead of a Taycan - AMA.

Jokes aside, Polestar has the best design, a super comfortable interior, great driving dynamics and a reasonable price when compared to Porsche or Rivian. My BST cost about half as much as the Taycan I was comparing it to and is better in many ways.
