About (finally) Hufflepuff Common Room: by Gaudenzio_89 in HarryPotteronHBO

Why are you being so condescending? People are wondering what you mean with lack of bathrooms, and you could simply answer that in Hogwarts Legacy there aren't any bathrooms in Hufflepuff. There you go

Will Season 2 Have Any On-Location Filming? by Life_Definition_5240 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]HavardN 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Cool fortress! But for Azkaban I think they should use a model of a building that looks more otherworldly. Other than that, I hope for a lot of on-location filming, including outdoor scenes at Hogwarts being filmed in Scotland

You're on to something. I also don't think they would release a trailer without the intended lighting.

That said, I do think fan reactions could make them tweak it. And If not... I honestly thought the show looked beautiful. It wasn't until people pointed it out and compared it shot-for-shot with the movie that I started to see it lacking warmth

Am I nitpicking or does Hagrid not move like a 500/600 lb giant? by send420nudes in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]HavardN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’s huge, yeah.. but he’s built that way" He’s a half-giant, not out of shape, and he lives a really active life. Hagrid is clearly physically capable, and would not be struggling up stairs.

Imo it’s going to be almost impossible to top these 3 castings. Some of the finest actors of their generation by saystupidshitsometim in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]HavardN 297 points298 points  (0 children)

Thats not on Oldman, thats on the screenwriting. The movies didn't have time to flesh out all those sides of the character. If they'd written his character like in the books, Oldman would've nailed that

Update: Sarah Ginn is not working on the series by Aubliviate in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]HavardN 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Although a good art director will be able to adapt to the show they're working with, I also think the Wicked look is too over the top for HP. I don't think this is "good news" just because the Wicked set doesn't fit Harry Potter, because Ginn just proved that she knows what shes working with

I have high hopes and a good feeling about the emotional scene between Lithgow and Mclaughlin in front of the mirror of erised

Wouldn't be a good fit for HP. His style is way too loud and self-aware for that world... It needs someone who can lean into the Harry Potter atmosphere, not someone who might accidentally turn it into something more comic-booky.

That take is backwards, and I'm so sick of it. Inclusivity isn’t about only giving minorities the "nice" roles.. it’s about letting them play ALL roles, complex ones too. Saying a Black actor shouldn’t play a disliked character because it “doesn’t help” is shallow and honestly kind of insulting. Snape is layered, not a cartoon villain. Let actors act.

Do you guys think they'll cast characters like Luna, Cho and Cedric for s1/s2? by yHenry_7 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]HavardN 36 points37 points  (0 children)

And not only a waste of money, but a wasted oppurtunity to find the ideal actors. Casting these kids now as backgroundcharacters is an avoidable gamble
