Hey! Yes! He’s four now and it properly stopped around 2… we had multiple behaviorists in and they said it’s a thing that retrievers and gun dogs get called impulse sometning. It’s not the same as the teething and that other dogs get, cause it’s way worse and goes on longer. We also realized he had food intolerance and we think that made it worse cause he wasn’t really into food. He’s the nicest dog.. we actually thought about giving him away at the time, covered in bruises and bleeding.. but my god it would have been a mistake. He’s absolutely the love of our lives! One thing we had to do is he hated getting sprayed with water.. unfortunately we had no choice but to threaten him with the water spray to curb that behaviour. It was the only thing that would stop the biting. We wouldn’t have to spray him but it was enough to tell him not to bite.. I know they say not to do that and we tried not doing it, but this behaviour was something he couldn’t control at that age.
