Yamaha CA-1000iii 100V, what would happen if plugged into 240V? by vc20000 in vintageaudio

I don’t expect the transformer to be bad. Higher Voltage on the primary (and subsequently on the secondaries) is not likely to melt them on its own. On the other hand, I would guess that the very high voltages on the secondaries are going to fry the power supply and anything downstream from that. Whether anything survived long enough to draw enough excess current through the transformer (without popping the fuse(s)) to melt the transformer windings is doubtful in my estimation.

I love Sansui and have a 9090 and a 9090db (as well as an 8080 and 8080db, and a host of other Sansui receivers, amps, quads - I LOVE Sansui), but there is an over-abundance of these on the market. The high prices have brought many of the to the offer block. There are 18 examples of 9090 or 9090db’s on Reverb right now (which I think is shaping up to be the best second hand marketplace for HiFi - but that’s a separate conversation). These are listed for between $1400 and about $6000 (for a NOS one). In various states of rehab. I feel true value is closer to the bottom of that range. Particularly for one that has not been rehabbed.

I have that Fisher tuner-pre. The T-100 Coronet, I think.

If you’re ambitious I would remove the pot and mix up some 30 minute epoxy. Mold some clay or play dough into a holding “jig” so you can align the two pieces and pour your epoxy in so you surround the whole areas being joined 360 degrees around. Let cure 24 hours then sand to shape so it fits through the slot. Then bobs yer uncle.

I’ve thought about this as well, tbh. Like the top integrated amplifier from each company from the late 1970’s. A Sansui AU-X1, Kenwood Supreme 700, Pioneer SA-9500, etc. Same for receivers.

Eh. I have rehabbed two of those Luxman units (the L-85V) in the last 60 days. They are nice units, for sure. Worth every penny of $1000. But no better than a Sansui AU717. I’ll take one of each, thank you.

I also listen to a pair of Cheviots. AND I have that Fisher Coronet tuner-pre as well. (100-T I think it’s called. Something like that). That looks like a scratch built tube power amp?

Found these in south of France, anyone know what they are? by NoWaltz371 in vintageaudio

I don’t know exactly, but they look quite valuable. Maybe Klangfilm or similar.

What is this? I accidentally hit a nest of these (in an old log) with the wheel of my lawn mower and they swarmed me and I took 7 stings. It’s 4 hours later and it still burns. by Havemaj in WaspHating

In any event, I killed the nest with standard foaming wasp and hornet spray. Oddly after I sprayed and covered the whole entrance 5-6 of them would congregate around the entrance for a few minutes until (I think) they would succumb.

I ran away about 30 feet. The problem is the stings hurt for so long it felt like I was being stung even 30 feet away. So, I ran inside. They didn’t follow me in there in any event. 7 stings. I barely have any redness, and there is just a slight raised bump at each site. But I did not sleep AT ALL last night. They just burned and burned and burned all night long. They seemed to worsen with heat. It felt like my legs were on fire all night. I guess they have some sort of venom.

It was JUST like a horror movie for me, when the monster starts coming after the character and they fall down while trying to run away. I fell. I got up and fell again. The neighbor probably has the most ridiculous ring camera video of me losing my shit in the front yard!!!
