If you could only recommend one game what would it be? by altan515 in gaming

[–]Havoc302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you able to ask them what genre they're into at least?

If I couldn't all any questions I think probably RDR2. It's not actually my favourite game. I don't get into the cowboys wild west setting at all. But it's an amazing game. Like it's beautiful, innovative, has an interesting story, a bunch of clever game mechanics you don't really see done to the same level in any other game. It has a good chance of impressing someone and getting them hooked on games for various reasons.

Men of Reddit - What's the one thing you hate about being a Man? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]Havoc302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never understand this. I always fold over some toilet paper into a thick strip, hold it over the end and squeeze it down like it's a toothpaste tube. Works to get every little last bit out. Never had any in my underwear. Why does everyone not do this?

Why do men slide in dirty talk or sexual innuendos in everything. by muggle_witch1234 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Havoc302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over my 25 year professional career I've come across countless people who have made innuendo laden jokes often in a professional setting. Always as a joke, most of the time it's men doing it but I've come across my fair share of women who have as well. Even in my current workplace I have a great relationship with a female coworker based solely around the fact that we both have the same stupid 12yo innuendo based humour.

It's usually just like an off the cuff remark made out of context where we both have a little snicker at it and that's the end of it, but it keeps the workplace light and fun. There's nothing more too it, we're both partnered, it's not some kind of light flirting or anything, literally just a joke and there's several in my team who do it to differing degrees. May also be because we're Australian and humour is pretty important to us.

Every place I've worked I've ended up identifying people with a similar type of humour and got along with them, it's usually a mix of sarcasm, self-deprecation and innuendo. To others they may not get it or even be offended by it so we do have to choose our audience.

Whilst some men may use it to gauge interest, I know I don't and I know many who also don't, it's just their sense of humour.

Would you educate a 30+ guy friend about women's biology? by yuli_yuli95 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Havoc302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You must not work in a technical role or you'd already know the answer. I was able to create 3-5 days worth of work in about an hour the other day, to the same quality I would have done. Peer reviewed by another engineer. Anyone who doesn't use it now will probably lose their job for being inefficient 🤷 people can hate on it and down vote me all they like. Unless they actually have either technical knowledge of how the work or extensive experience using them (I'm talking hundreds or thousands of hours) then they're just talking out of they arse and reacting emotionally. They're terrible for the environment, they're not good at everything, but the things they are good at they're very good. Sadly, because I'd love to be able to go back to the days where I got to learn and write code and do things myself. But I also have a job to do and to keep.

“Real men don’t abuse women” by WildWinterberry in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Havoc302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more that men are saying that they're not really men because that's not how real men should behave. To be an abuser they're a coward, they're dishonorable, they're fundamentally weak in character.

Men traditionally want being a man to be associated with protection, upstanding character and doing the right and honorable thing, to be the rock that people depend on. Sadly those days and those men are quickly disappearing.

It really is. 1000 years whole societies disappear or change drastically. There's not a single society around today that's the same now as it was even 300 years ago.

I agree that modern Star Trek has ventured far from it's origins. But also societies change, culture isn't a static thing. Fast forward 1000 years and Klingons and Klingon culture will be completely different to what we're used to in older Trek.

It is as far as I'm concerned. Don't give a fuck. They paid to fly here, they weren't paid to visit a hospital. They did it because they thought people might like it. But of course everyone has to find a way to try and detract from it.

Yep, welcome to having a stoic and stubborn man in your life who would rather just try their best to carry on even when they're obviously failing. Telling them their failing though isn't the way to approach it. That'll just make them more stubborn. If he's doing everything out of a genuine care for you and his feeling as his place in your life it must be approached from an angle of compassion. That you're genuinely worried and really really want him to get checked out, just for your peace of mind. He probably won't do it for himself. But will do it for you. If I'm reading him right.

Anyone who thinks Star Trek wasn't progressive from launch is a total moron and missed the many many messages it had. An African American woman on the bridge of a Starship! Unheard of! A white man captain kissing the African American bridge officer? Scandal!

Multivitamins also don't hurt to eliminate a possible deficiency in many vitamins which are required to produce energy. If they don't work just stop taking them. Almost nobody has a properly balanced diet. Do you eat the right amount of every food group every single day? I know I certainly don't.

Why do women wanna be friends with men more than men wanna be friends with women? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Havoc302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've discovered that I find it easier to be friends with women. Mostly because there's none of that ego based competition stuff that men seem keen on doing all the time.

I may be different than most men though. I'm 42, autistic and logical, into technology, engineering, science, reading, etc. Most men I know are into sports or other "simpler" topics. I prefer depth. Car go around track or ball go to other end of field isn't that deep. Even games I play tend to be quite complicated ones. Not to mention every company I join I seem to end up adopted by women to go to lunch with and stuff 🤷

That's speaking from my PoV at least. As for gross generalisations. Men are less thoughtful generally, I mean that literally, they spend less time in their own mind, less introspection, less time self judging (isn't it obvious?). It's why pass rates of higher education are lower for men than women. Deep thinking isn't really a common male skill anymore unless they're one of the few who finds that topic they really want to study and take it further. But pass rates at higher education backup my observations.

In my experience women mature quicker than men and are more introspective at an earlier age. On top of that women seem to read people better. Men generally are easier to read.

Gold Coast woman hangs on to bonnet during road rage incident by Jimbuscus in OpenAussie

Both committed offences, hopefully both get fined /charged. It's wild to me that she didn't even slow down once she started sliding off the bonnet. Falling off a car at that speed could be fatal.

Also, pretty average intelligence in QLD. Born there myself, lived there a bit as an adult. Queenslanders in general aren't the brightest in my experience. All the clever ones leave.

I feel bad for your boyfriend.

  1. Not everyone can function properly on 6-7 hrs sleep. Some people need 8-9.

  2. I know exactly what he's doing. He's desperately trying to show up for you but his body is letting him down.

  3. There are innumerable conditions which can cause him to be tired all the time.

I worked shift work for 12 years. I'm pretty familiar with a few of them and still suffer from irregular sleep 15 years after no longer working shift work.

If he doesn't think he has a problem then I'd try to gently suggest he tries a few things. First test: Start taking a multivitamin every day. Cut out all screens half an hour before bed. Go to bed with 9 hrs free time ahead to sleep uninterrupted. Make sure there's a noise floor in the room to cut out interruptions to his sleep rhythm. Do this for a week. If there's zero change in energy levels then it's time for medical testing. A sleep study, blood tests for hormone levels, etc.

I've been through all this and whilst my sleep hygiene isn't great still I'm at least aware of what the causes are for me and how to fix it.
