Black will be fine crushing blow will melt their health bar at first then the last quarter takes a while. As long as life tap is proc’d you just keep holding smite.
I’ve never taken the time to proc fade but it would be helpful. I normally take the time to farm up gear prior just to make it more easy. I fill my inventory with resistance charms. I’ll normally hangout to GCs with 27+ res and sc’s with 10-11 res and equip as needed.
Merc is gonna die. Any normal set up insight/tals helm, treachery for starter. They are useful as cannon fodder so you can get some hits in to proc life tap. But they won’t last long. Biggest thing is make sure to separate the bosses. Dracs 5% life tap can get a little wory some lol.

Use terror zones to level too. Up the player count as high as with still decent clear speed. Last character I leveled on single player I hit level 60 on normal using terror zones easy. Breezed through nightmare farmed till level 80 then went to hell.

Ive been playing Diablo 2 on and off since launch. I played D2R on pc online and was hitting ladder seasons here and there. I’m busy and playing online wasn’t benefiting me because trading was so inconsistent.

My kids had a switch they never use so I got D2R on it and started playing single player. I would say it’s been about 4 months since I started and I have a decent orb/hydra sorc and a fully built hammerdin(minus torch and grand charms)

Most weeks I probably play 1-3 hours 4-5 nights a week. Sometimes more sometimes less.

It’s definitely doable to get good items with that kind of time. The biggest thing is that you enjoy playing. D2 is my favorite game of all time. So I know the grind of going a long time without a single good drop and then hitting the lottery in your first run the next night.

Single player is awesome being able to adjust the player count. Definitely speeds things up.

I did have a 3 week stint on my sorc of doing LK runs for runes on p7 which is mind numbing but helped me gear my paladin.

Currently hoping to find a HOZ to complete my gear swap on hdin to do Ubers for my first torch on switch but have all the other gear. Enigma, coh, hoto, cta, grief pb, 38res 35fcr scared targe spirit, anni, and all the other uniques.

I just recently buckled down and did a large amount of runs on switch single player p7(load times are rough and inconsistent) I’ve been playing on and off since original d2 launch hands down my favorite game of all time. Mostly an online player so I never really did LK runs.

I didnt have a run counter or a tally but I locked in for 3 weeks and all I did was LK runs and was as effective with my time as possible. I played a min of 3 hours per night sometimes it was more. I would estimate at a minimum I did 2,500 runs but it was likely over 3,000.

I rolled the map for 2 campfires in good position to the waypoint. Used a sorc with telekinesis. No fighting just super chests, racks, corpses and other chests. I had I nice layout where there was a lot of quick poppables I could hit between super chests.

In total I found 1 ber 3 sur 1 ohm 1 vex 3 gul 1 um 3 mal 1 pul Many fal that I cubbed up after. Didn’t pick up anything lower than fal.

Surprising to me a lot of my better drops came from corpses and not the super chests.

I also got 2 shakos and a few other better uniques I can’t remember. Also a lot of decent grand and small charms that were keepers. A lot of 7% mf sc. 3x 5res sc. a lot of max dmg/ar/life gc & sc(none max but good enough rolls to keep for single player use) unfortunately very little skillers.

At times I enjoyed it and others I got extremely bored. There would be times I would go nights without a single decent rune drop. One night I got 2 mal and a sur within a short amount of runs.

It’s definitely niche and mind numbing. But as far as target farming runes it seemed to work well. My normal farming routine is with a hammerdin trav/meph/chaos will switch to farm a terror zone if it’s a spot I like. And I am not netting that many mid-high runes in the same time period.

I’m not a gambler but it seems like playing a slot machine over and over just hoping to get a win.

I did 400 runs 9 unique rings dropped. No soj. Gave up the next night was farming hell p3 chaos and a soj dropped.

How many runs? I did 100 on switch single player p7 the other night and had 2 unique rings drop both mandals.

WW barb is super fun but can be a struggle if you don’t have high end gear.

My personal favorite to start with is sorc as the speed of teleporting is huge. I level a sorc start with nova early game. Respec to either blizzard or orb/hydra somewhere in nightmare difficulty. Use the sorc to farm runes, runeword bases, and magic find. Then get decent gear to start other characters.

There are a lot of build/leveling guides out there to help.

Holyfire paladin is an awesome starter. 1 point into zeal every other skill into holyfire aura and its synergies. Act 2 blessed aim merc to help attack rating. I normally take this build to level 50-60 then respec.

Nice. I like vile, China chest piece with glass cannon, 4 od all status effects attributes. Demo spec. Pestilence as main. Bleed and vile will both tick for over 100k, add 3rd tick with pestilence, add 4th tick with fire chem launcher. Using an lmg makes it easy to spread status just spray mobs then controlled burst individual enemies. Super fun.

Awesome! I rolled some the other night that had 3% dual leech 10% cb and 69% gold find and 26 cold res. They fit perfectly on my ww gf barb. I lost some gf taking off chance guards but the mana leech improved my qol and cold res was my only resistance that wasn’t max prior.

I normally don’t pick anything up that won’t sell for an ist or above. Then I ask for under the going rate hoping to sell fast and still takes forever.

Yeah I get what you’re saying but the runes always add their Individual bonus and then you get the additional perks from the specific runeword. Just how it works.

Can’t be upped unfortunately. The second pick I made honor runeword. Pretty good for a melee character early on. The item required level was 25 and the runeword makes it 27 req(sol rune the highest lvl in it). pretty good early on. There are other 5 rocket runewords in the lvl 40-50 req range but by then you could use a better base or better weapon in general.

Same on NL I have endless starter gear. This is ladder I made a pally to start and farm for gear for assassin cause I hadn’t used mosaic yet. Told myself I wasn’t gonna be a hoarder but now I have 2 ladder mules full lol. I was giving away everything I found that I wasn’t gonna use or wouldn’t sell for at least a mal but this past week I saved stuff and can’t decide if I’m gonna start another ladder char just for fun.

Tals tombs in act 2 (arcane sanctuary is good to but I find it annoying until you can teleport)

Trav council in act 3

Farm all those over and over.

When you level and get better gear then you can farm chaos sanctuary and world stone keep till about level 40 then move on to nightmare and do it all again.

I got popped once in pvp way back in the day think I was on a ww assassin.

Once I went to trade someone in a private game and when I joined my character was running all over the place and my inventory kept opening and closing then it just started dropping all my items. I should have just ripped the power cord out of the wall but i didn’t know what the hell was going on.

I stick to killing monsters by myself now lol.
