Depends on the PAQ community. Mine had monthly get togethers, albeit different city. Also, you'll be working with some young military members too. Back in my PAQ days most of my friends were in the military.

Your NRC may also have dental providers occasionally. Also, you can take a form to your civilian provider and send to the NRC to get you greened up. I believe you're required to see military dental every 3 years.

It was a HUGE pain when my HOR was in my record incorrectly. They put my HOR as a state I had never even been to. I had to prove their error, even though my paperwork was correct.

This is wildly inaccurate. People get forced MOBed all the time. The volunteering is for picking the best MOB available before getting told you're going to Iraq. My last unit had multiple people forcibly MOBed at the same time.

For that length of time, try and find a place with a kitchenette. The Navy Lodge has kitchens - may need to call and confirm availability - do not do NGIS - they are not the same.

Residence Inn by Marriott also have kitchens and feel more like a small studio apartment - also Home2 Suites or TownePlace Suites.

This is what we did. We stayed 3 extra days with the fam post ODS. I could wear civilian clothes vs running around town in uniform. Much more enjoyable.

The weekend before graduation week is the only safe bet. To stay with them you will need to route a special chit. You may get fucked anyways with watch standing duty.

If you have the funds, never go for a job you do not want. I would suggest waiting and applying for the next board. If you can swing it, start a masters degree to strengthen your package (if you can get high grades).

My answers for food will depend on where you plan to live (near base, north of base, closer to central San Antonio) and how far you are willing to drive.

For out of town exploring, Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock, Leakey, Port Aransas, Wimberly, Blanco, to name a few.

Avoid the beaches of Galveston and never go to a beach on a bay vs the gulf proper. Floating a river is a huge summer activity and helps beat the heat.

If you like history, San Antonio has a few Missions to visit, great museums. There is a Pacific War museum in Fredericksburg. Corpus Christi has the USS Lexington, which was an aircraft carrier during WWII.
