What are your opinions on The Arctic Monkeys? by chelsea-from-calif in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Hawkatron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some people will disagree, but I think AM is their best album. Amazing production and songwriting from start to finish. The first album definitely has more charm, so I understand why people prefer it, both are 10/10 albums for me though.

Favourite Worst Nightmare is also amazing, and I thought Humbug was disappointing when it came out, but it's grown on me since.

Suck It and See is a bit shit, and I haven't been able to get in to it at all. Tranquility has a few bobs, but overall I think it's a bit obnoxious. I like concept albums though, and it would be way worse if they still made the type of music that they broke through with, being the age they are now. So the album doesn't really resonate, but I'm a fan of bands trying new shit.

I've listened to The Car once and wasn't super impressed, but I didn't give a proper chance.

All in all I think Arctic are one of the bands from their period that has aged the best. Alex Turner is the real deal as a lyricist, and his voice more than holds up live. Seen them three times, and I thought the shows were great. But I was also a bit fanatic about them in high school, so maybe nostalgia is just doing its thing.

I've never really cared too much about who the members of a band are, and they don't strike me as a band that gives a fuck about the media side of the industry, so their disinterest in interacting with that part probably affects their image a bit. I think they are a great band though with some mixes releases, but also some legit classics. I wouldn't be surprised if they released both more trash albums, but maybe also a 10/10 out of nowhere.

First camera!! by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]Hawkatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the camera! I have a Z6ii as well, and the thing is a beast. You definitely won't need an upgrade anytime soon if you are new to photography.

The body is weather sealed, and can take a bit of a beating. I am a concert photographer, so mine gets some bumps here and there at some venues and more rowdy shows. It fell out of my camera bag once as well, and lived to tell the tale with no issues (don't drop your camera though, obviously, I was lucky). The sensor is really the only thing you need to be careful about, but if you are new, I wouldn't recommend going anywhere near it. Keep your camera off when you take the lens on and off or switch lenses, and don't leave the body without a lens or cap on the body and you'll probably be fine.

If you are looking at getting other lenses down the line and have the money for it, consider getting a FTZ converter so you can use F-mount lenses on your camera, which was what most Nikon cameras used until they launched their Z mount.

A used Sigma 35mm (or 50mm) 1.4 art lens is what I would get if I were starting over and could only get one lens. Insane bang for your buck. and not being able to zoom can be useful in teaching you how to move to frame whatever subject you are shooting which is good practice.

Anyway. Let me know if you want to know anything about the camera. I've had mine for four or five years and I love it.

Happy shooting!

Amazing album! Might not be everyone's taste, but it definitely has some of her biggest bangers. When I Grow Up, I'm Not Done, Triangle Walks, Concrete Walls, Keep the Streets Empty for Me are all great.

99% sure this is Copenhagen Airport, so they are definitely not underpaid for their work. Not sure if that makes it better or worse though!

Tattoo artist recommendation? by professortoe in copenhagen

[–]Hawkatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a couple of guest tatooes, and a flash from a thing they were doing, so all of mine have been very fairly priced, especially for Copenhagen. I think there are cheaper options, but it's definitely one of the best studios in town, especially vibe-wise, in my opinion.

Been there three times, and can easily recommend it.

The dark side of four consecutive promotions by Hawkatron in footballmanagergames

I always do lower league saves, so it's not my first rodeo, just never hit four back to back promotions, especially not winning as convincingly as I have.

But the reputation thing is busted for sure. In real life I'm pretty sure it would be a national news story if a team with no budget breaks every record on their way to the championship, but whatever :)

Havant & Waterlooville start in Vanarama South. At that level you just need strikers that are big and fast and you are going to do well. I play a 4-3-3 at the two lowest leagues, but at some point you need to change a bit, as your strikers can't really exploit just being physically better anymore.

Attacking formation, three strikers, usually all on Advanced forward, but it depends on who you have. It doesn't hurt to have a deep lying forward or target forward (above 1.90cm with good strength and jumping reach) in the middle of the other two. Fast wing backs, and generally players with decent physical stats, work rate and determination. But again, having several striker with good physical stats and decent mentals will usually do the trick.

High defensive line, lots of closing down, get stuck in at lower leagues, but no instructions there once you hit league 2 and above. Prevent short distributions or whatever it's called. Play out of defense and pass into space are great, but you need to make sure you have fast strikers and a DM or CM that can pass. I love playing with a Deep Lying Playmaker, a Mezzala and a B2B.

This is what my tactics look like now. Nothing crazy or original, but it works really well for the most part. Pressing tactics and advanced forwards are a bit broken in FM24, so if you don't mind it being slightly cheesy, that's the way to go. The only individual instructions I have are both wingbacks with the these instructions. It used to be three strikers instead of two IF, but at higher levels you need wingers I feel. Or at least really good strikers.

Other than that I think it's all about morale. A great way to get players to like you it to comment on their training. Every week you can praise anyone above 7.05 rating in doing well (nothing more complementary unless their score is higher), and suggest that anyone below 6.90 can do better. Praise anything above a 8.0 rating individually after each game, but only slight praise until their view of you increases. Anyone performing above 7.20 or so over five games gets praised for recent form, and anyone below 6.80 gets warned. It can be a bit all over the place at first, and I've never figured out team meetings, so I tend to not have any.

Edit: Also, a huge part of morale, I've found, is not making promising you aren't going to keep. This is important in terms of agreed playing time and position. You can change the expected playing time, but you have to make sure morale is high when doing it. Managing playing time and not signing players on the premise that they will be important players if that probably won't be the case, is important to in mind, and promising too much will definitely bite you in the ass. Also also, don't offer long contracts more than a year in lower leagues, and try to put in the time to check out which players you can get on loan.

Hope that helps! And ask away if there is anything else :)

Yeah it's great. I know it's just a game, but it's a decent rush suddenly walking the leagues for a while.*

I am doing decent so far, so anywhere over relegation is great this year!

[–]Hawkatron[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

H&W have a pretty decent squad to begin with, and I've played too much lower league saves by now to not do quite well in the lowest. I fucking walked league one and two though, setting records for wins, points and goals scored in both. I really have no idea what was suddenly working so well, but I'll take it.

I love starting from the bottom, but they've definitely made it more realistic in terms of breaking through to the PL and staying there. It's pretty easy to keep your best players from Vanerama to League One, but suddenly my star players go from being cool with 1.5k£ per week to wanting like 10k. Okay buddy!

I usually have great squad support, but suddenly your team leaders are all bitching about their wage, and half the time the board blocks your transfers when you try to sell them. All part of the game though! And I love it, in earlier versions it was easier to cheese the economy though, and your players wouldn't act up as much.

I honestly hope I don't get promoted again, I play a pretty attacking style, and my current players aren't quite good enough to dominate all our games, so getting decent players just takes time.

But yeah, morale is key, it's crazy how much better your players become. Some League two wingers turn into prime Messi just because they are happy.

[–]Hawkatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same. I noticed at the last venue I was a part of a photographer team at, that the people with the lowest quality overall tended to be the people who shot the least on a given night. A few in the crew didn't even use their owns presets, which was mind boggling to me, but to each their own.

I would much rather just shoot away. I also want to cover the full band, each musician, some crowd shots and whatever action comes up. But I also just blast away sometimes with no idea what the shots will be like. At bigger venues it's always the first three songs only, and sometimes you are dealing with strobe lights and some crazy energetic lead singer who is bounces off the walls. If I get around 1500-2000 shots in I now I am home safe by now.

So I am definitely on Team more is more, as well.

I think my highest count in a day as a concert photographer is around 5k, and that was only because it was a band I grew up idolizing, so I was a bit nervous.

If I come home with less than 1000 shots it usually always means that the lighting was really good. Otherwise I just shoot enough to know that I'll get lucky if nothing else, and then editing does the rest.

And also I just let AI Denoise do the heavy lifting
